Pelican Brewing Supports Iron Chef Goes Coastal To Benefit United Way of Clatsop County

Supporting the local community is what many craft breweries excel at and on this coming Tuesday, November 7, 2017, Pelican Brewing Company will support Iron Chef Goes Coastal that benefits United Way of Clatsop County. The 10th annual event will take place in Seaside, Oregon at the Seaside Convention Center beginning at 6:00pm.

Twenty coastal restaurants will vie for the coveted Iron Chef title. Two of the chefs competing include Pelican Brewing chefs Dan Micolino and Nathan Pope as the duo will demonstrate their culinary talents. Over 600 guests are expected to sample the savory fare and vote on their favorite dishes. As of this morning less than 100 tickets remain.

Here are more details from the press release…

United Way of Clatsop County’s signature fundraiser is also the Columbia Pacific region’s culinary event of the year.  This Iron Chef style competition pairs four of the region’s top chefs randomly into two teams which compete in a live one hour cook off requiring the use of a secret ingredient.

“At Pelican’s core is a desire to contribute to the communities in which we do business—this is a terrific cause that significantly supports our communities and we are honored to participate,” says Pelican research and development chef Dan Micolino. “The Iron Chef also offers a really fun opportunity for us to flex our culinary muscle experimenting with a specialty dish that is unique to this event.”

In addition to the live competition, event goers will have the opportunity to taste and vote for their favorites from among 16 area restaurants vying for their chance to be in next year’s live cook-off.  There is also a silent auction for bids on culinary related items, restaurant experiences, coast lodging and hospitality, chef events and more.

Tickets are still available to the popular event that will be held at the Seaside Convention Center on Tuesday, November 7, 6 p.m. for general admission. The show starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are required and can be purchased at www.clatsopunitedway.org or by calling 503-325-1961.  All proceeds benefit the United Way of Clatsop County and the agencies they serve.

“All of our participants are incredibly generous members of the Clatsop County community—they donate all of the food, time and talent so the guest ticket proceeds go 100% directly to our work in the community,” says Jennifer Holen, executive director, United Way of Clatsop County. “With Pelican’s new presence on the Cannon Beach culinary scene, it was a perfect opportunity for them to join the fun—Pelican is not only a key competitor but has a cool silent auction package we think will fetch even more for our efforts.”
