Lombard House Celebrates 8 Years this Evening with Upright Brewing
Up in Portland’s St. Johns neighborhood sits Lombard House, a nice casual beer bar that has been serving the local community for the past eight years. Founded by Brian Koch, he’s put his heart and soul into this place to create a warm and inviting place to enjoy a few beers.
Brian has been a staple in the local beer industry for quite some years. He’s been behind the bar at many places here in Portland, including stints at the defunct Roots Brewing, Upright Brewing, and The Commons Brewery. And now for the past eight years he’s been the proprietor of a neighborhood meeting place, Lombard House.
Today, Brian will bring back a concept that has seemed to go to the wayside over the past few years, a good ole’ Meet the Brewer night. When the doors open today at 5:00pm, Brian will welcome in his former boss, Alex Ganum, Owner/Brewmaster of Upright Brewing. Alex will be around until at least 7:00pm, so bring your questions for the brewer that recently celebrated 15 years of brewing earlier this year.
“As some of you know, I was lucky enough to work part time at Upright Brewing in the years leading up to my opening Lombard House,” stated Brian, in a social media post. “Upright will forever remain my favorite job related to the brewing side of the business, and Alex, the owner and head brewer, has remained one of my closest friends, in or out of the profession. This week we celebrate our 8th year at Lombard House. To celebrate that, we are taking it back to where it all began.”
For this evening’s Meet the Brewer, Brian has secured five beers from Upright Brewing, even a Fresh Hop IIPA! On tap look for Fresh Hop Super Cool IPA, Foeder-Aged Watermelon Wit, Engelberg Pilsner, Festbier, and Flora Rustica, all from Upright Brewing!
“If I ever served you a pint at Upright, I’d love to see you out for this event. I’m really looking forward to this intimate evening, having a few pints with friends. I hope to see you all there!”

Lombard House is open six days a week from Tuesday – Sunday. Feel free to bring in your own food from St. Johns Food Porch that’s across the street and meet some new friends!
