StormBreaker Brewing x Portugal. The Man – 2025 Rare Disease Fundraiser Beer Event
|As we count down towards the final days of February, StormBreaker Brewing and the band, Portugal. The Man have partnered to raise awareness and funds for Rare Disease Day. The two have come together on a special beer, Cerveza de Conexión Mundial, a Mexican Style Lager that’ll make its debut on Friday, February 28, 2025 at StormBreaker Brewing in Portland’s Mississippi neighborhood.
Part of Rare Disease Month, the annual Rare Disease Day is aimed at highlighting the experiences and challenges that families navigating rare diseases face, while providing the community an opportunity to support the cause all month long.
Rare Disease Day holds a special place in Portugal. The Man members Zoe Manville and John Gourley. Two members of the Portland, Oregon based band have a child, Frances, that in 2021 was diagnosed with DHDDS, a rare neurodevelopmental disorder with only about 70 confirmed cases in the entire world. This has brought on a unique challenge for both Zoe and John.
“As our family navigates the complexities and financial burden of funding research and treatment for DHDDS we just want to take a moment to thank the community for rallying behind Frances.” said Zoe Manville of Portugal. The Man. “We could not do this without your love and support and we hope you will join us this month as we raise awareness and funds for rare disease.”
On Friday, February 28th, StormBreaker Brewing and Portugal. The Man will host an evening fundraiser from 6:00 – 9:00pm to help raise awareness about rare diseases and raise funds for the Francis Changed My Life fund. This evening will see the debut of Cerveza de Conexión Mundial – Mexican Style Lager that’ll be available on draft and in 4-pack cans.
This beer collaboration was born from a shared love of Portland Pickles Baseball. StormBreaker Brewing, and Portugal. The Man, teamed up to create something special: a beer collaboration with a purpose. Together the two crafted a Mexican-style lager that’s clean, light, and refreshing, with a delicate balance of subtle corn flavor and mild hop spice. Best of all, it’s brewed to support the Frances Changed My Life campaign, turning every sip into a step toward making a difference.
This project wouldn’t have been possible without the generous contributions of Brewers Supply Group (BSG), Cascadia Canning, and Imperial Yeast. All three generous companies donated ingredients and packaging to bring this collaboration to life. 100% of proceeds from canned beer sales at StormBreaker and $2 from every pint sold will go directly to the Frances Changed My Life campaign.
Joining in the fundraiser at StormBreaker Brewing is AVP Wine Collective with its new Portugal. The Man The Wine. AVP is a collective winery in Portland that helps emerging winemakers launch and supports experienced winemakers by providing a well-organized, well-equipped winery alongside a supportive community and expert help.
On this new wine, AVP worked closely with Portugal. The Man to craft a unique and delicious wine that highlights John and Zoe tastes.
