Thunder Island Brewing Co. Honors 100 Years of the Iconic Multnomah Falls Lodge
|Living here in the Pacific Northwest offers some of the best natural scenery in the entire country. This holds very true for those of us in close proximity to the Columbia River Gorge and the region’s number one natural tourist attraction, Multnomah Falls and the Multnomah Falls Lodge.
One hundred years ago in 1925, architect A.E. Doyle built Multnomah Falls Lodge at a cost of $40,000. The Cascadian-style Lodge is on the National Register of the Historic Places and embodies every type of rock in the Columbia River Gorge.
The lodge is an important part of the Gorge. Nearly eight years ago we almost lost the lodge due to the devastating Eagle Creek Fire during the fall of 2017. Fortunately the flames did not destroy the remarkable structure.
Each year, Multnomah Falls and the Multnomah Falls Lodge welcomes 2.5 million visitors gazing in amazement of the 620-foot-tall waterfall. It is also a great spot to take a hike or enjoy at meal inside the lodge.

One local brewery is honoring 100 years of the Multnomah Falls Lodge with a new celebratory beer. Thunder Island Brewing Co. from nearby Cascade Locks, Oregon has partnered with Multnomah Falls Lodge on Multnomah Falls Lodge Centennial Lager!
This new lager will debut today, Friday, April 4, 2025 at Multnomah Falls Lodge starting at Noon with a celebratory toast in the bar. The team from Thunder Island Brewing will be there to discuss this new 5.5% ABV lager packaged in 16-ounce cans and what it means to be part of this historic milestone. Cheers to 100 years!
But it’s not just a finely crafted lager that is one of the libations celebrating 100 years of the Multnomah Falls Lodge. Wood Family Spirits has crafted the Multnomah Falls Lodge Centennial Bourbon.
Only 1,700 individually numbered bottles have been produced and the 100th Anniversary Bourbon has become a must-have for collectors and bourbon enthusiasts across Oregon. This small-batch spirit, aged 5.5 years, offers rich notes of caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, and a hint of Oregon cherry, delivering a true taste of the Pacific Northwest. Bottles of Multnomah Falls Lodge Centennial Bourbon are available at selectOLCC Liquor Stores at $89.95 a bottle.
“The response has been extraordinary,” said Tom Wood, Founder of Wood Family Spirits. “We’re honored to see this bourbon celebrated as it commemorates the 100-year legacy of Multnomah Falls Lodge with one of the finest bourbons we’ve ever crafted”.

The Multnomah Falls Lodge is open seven days a week: Monday – Friday: 9:00am-6:00pm and Saturday – Sunday: 8:00am-6:00pm. To learn more about the lodge, visit multnomahfallslodge.com.
