Weird Portland United Presents Portland Weird Fest at Oaks Park
Things will get pretty weird on Saturday when Weird Portland United, you know the off-centered creative group led by The Unipiper, presents the Portland Weird Festival. The family friendly event will take place at Oaks Park in Southeast Portland on Saturday, September 7, 2024 from Noon – 5:00pm.
Come embrace the odd, strange and bizarre at the Inaugural Portland Weird Festival. Expect to experience some great offbeat entertainment while we celebrate Portland’s unique, quirky culture.
Saturday will also be proclaimed “Keep Portland Weird Day” by the City of Portland. The proclamation ceremony takes place at 12:30pm where Weird Portland United will make a presentation to Portland’s own Father of Weird, Terry Currier!
Local celebrities like The Unipiper, Portland Sleestak, and Una the Mermaid will be roaming the grounds for photo opportunities. Some eccentric performers will also be hosting Pop-Up Shows. You’ll even have the chance to catch the group’s President, Aurelia Stardancer, prancing around the venue!
What to Expect:
- Curious Performances: Witness mind-bending acts that defy convention, from avant-garde circus stunts to interactive theatrical spectacles.
- Eccentric Artistry: Immerse yourself in a gallery of the bizarre, showcasing unconventional artworks that challenge perceptions.
- Unusual Workshops: Learn the art of pickle sculpting, explore the science of cryptozoology, or discover your inner extraterrestrial in our weird workshops.
- Whimsical Music: Dance to the eclectic beats of local bands and musicians who march to the rhythm of their own drum.
- Lots and lots of wonderfully weird characters roaming all about.
- Over 60 local vendors will be in attendance showcasing their wares! Products will range from thrift finds that support psilocybin research to knitted clits.
- Beer Garden for folks over 21 and mature entertainment in the form of Burlesque, Drag, and sideshows!
- Free kids’ games, an obstacle course, and an interactive side quest!
Tickets are available online via Eventbrite and are $15 for those 13 and over. Kids that are 12 or under are admitted free. The festival is also offering a discounted ticket into Oaks Amusement Park. To purchase advance tickets, click here.
