APEX Bar To Close at the End of August 2024
After serving Portland craft beer fans for over the past 14 years, the future is influx for APEX Bar. Earlier today on its Instagram page, APEX Bar announced that it will be closing its doors at the end of August 2024. Yes, another casualty of a lease not being renewed.
APEX Bar was founded by Jesse McCann in 2010 and opened its doors on April 22, 2010. Offering an expansive outdoor patio and a cozy indoor space with 50 taps and a curated selection of rare, mainly barrel-aged beers.
Now with its lease ending soon, APEX Bar is hoping to find a new location to relocate to. That said, finding a space with a fair lease and the costs associated with making the space viable for a beer bar, it’ll be an uphill battle. So unfortunately this could be the swan song for the bar.

The winds of change are blowing APEX’s way. We’ve been through lots and made many great friends since the doors opened in 2010. Thanks so much for your support!
The latest curveball is that our lease isn’t being renewed. Just when things were starting to feel like they’re returning to a pre-COVID vibe, we’re on the hunt for a new home.
Moving will be a financial and logistical challenge, so please help us lighten our cellar in the coming months. We’d love to remain in our neighborhood, but we’re open to somewhere new if it’s a great fit. Come by for a beer and tell us where we should be landing. We have been looking hard…
The end of August will be the end of our service at SE 12th & Division. We’re looking forward to seeing you over the next 2 months and hopefully beyond.
It’s been an honor over 14+ years pouring 3,319 unique beers on tap and counting.
APEX couldn’t have happened without the support of a whole community of brewers, distributors and drinkers. It’s impossible to mention everyone who’s been a part of our success, and this a terrible place to try and do it anyway. Instead, put your phone down and come in for a beer, in person, while you can.
