BrewPubliCrawl Highlights Division Street Craft Beer Corridor
|
We have long believed that SE Division Street is one of Beervana’s best craft-beer corridors. We like it so much, we planned Oregon’s first Meet the Brewer Pub Crawl on this street. While we couldn’t feature every craft-beer friendly spot on Division, and chose to keep the distance walkable (our apologies to the bars east of 39th – maybe next year) we are certainly very fond of the the spots we do have. BrewPubliCrawl Year 2 features the four stops from last year – Victory Bar, Lompoc Hedge House, Bar Avignon, and The Beer Mongers – and the welcome addition of a near-Division fifth stop, Blitz Ladd. The full beer/brewer lineup for each of these stops can be found here. Here’s some thoughts on the five crawl bars you will be visiting during this Saturday’s BrewPubliCrawl:
VICTORY BAR – Stop #1. 12noon – 1:30. 2509 SE 37th (at SE Division). www.thevictorybar.com
Victory Bar is easily one of the coolest bars in the world and offers a spectacular mix of both local and hard to find import beer in bottles and draft. Thanks to Yoni Laos and his staff for again opening their doors early for a special experience kick-off to this fine day.
LOMPOC HEDGE HOUSE – Stop #2. 1:30 – 3:00. 3412 SE Division. www.newoldlompoc.com/hedgehouse_home.html
Lompoc’s Hedge House offers a family friendly environment with some of the best locally made brews ranging from light session lagers to bold barrel-aged vintage ales. They also provided a great place to relax over some delicious food. A cozy heated indoor and shaded outdoor patio make it a great hangout during any season. Thank you to Jerry, LeAnna, Dave, Bryan, Zach, and all of Lompoc’s talented brewers and gracious staff for hosting this fine event.
BAR AVIGNON – Stop #3. 3:00 – 4:30. 2138 SE Division. www.baravignon.com
While widely regarded for their phenomenal wine and liquor offerings, Bar Avignon quietly asserts itself with a handful of top notch craft beer taps that include a regular cask pump pour and nitro draught selection. Thank you to Randy and Nancy and their staff for their support of craft beer.
THE BEER MONGERS – Stop #4. 4:30 – 6:00. SE 12th and Division. www.thebeermongers.com
The BeerMongers symbolizes so much of what we love about beer because it is an establishment centered around community and friends. Offering more than 350 bottles of beer to go or to enjoy on premise (with no corkage fees) and a handful of craft beer on tap, it’s hard to beat what they offer. This is one of our favorite beer bars on the planet and a regular Brewpublic haunt. Thanks to owners Sean and Craig as well as Josh and the rest of the staff for rocking it here.
BLITZ LADD – Stop #5. 6:00 – 7:30. 2239 SE 11th. blitzbarpdx.webs.com
Blitz Sports Bar is a great meeting place for friends who enjoy sports of all kinds while drinking delicious craft beer. Offering two dozen craft beers on tap, growler fills, and an array of bottled beers, Blitz’s spacious environment is the perfect zone to catch the big game on their myriad of big screen TV or play some shuffleboard, darts, or ping pong. Thanks to Tim Becker and the entire Blitz staff for providing a great end-up spot for this year’s BrewPubliCrawl!
Sounds like a great time. I’ll be with in spirit.
What about Apex you losers
