Humulus Maximus Festivus Brings More Hops To Portland's St. Johns Neighborhood
|With Saraveza’s 3rd Annual IIPA Fest and International #IPADay behind us, there still appears to be no relenting for those seeking out big bitter and floral India Pale Ales, at least not in Portland’s St. Johns Neighborhood. Like Christopher Walken’s Bruce Dickenson requesting more cowbell, Trevor Thurston and Plew’s Brews are asking for more hops in their monitors.
On Friday August 10 and Saturday August 11, 2012, Plew’s Brews (8409 N. Lombard St., Portland, OR) will host the first annual Humulus Maximus Festivus, “A celebration of hops in the most extreme to mild IPAs!”
Look for 22 single, double, and imperial IPAs from Oregon and beyond. Trevor Thurston tells us that “there may be a few surprises awaiting!” Here’s more details from the organizer:
Glasses will be a brand-new Ninkasi design, 16 ounce pint size, and offered for 5 bucks. Tickets will be a dollar and one ticket for a taste or four for a full pint. A couple things to note, the Aegir IPA is the only keg that will come into Oregon this year. The Stillwater/Mikkeler is the last keg available. We’ll also have Pfriem’s IPA, an IPA from Portland U-Brew, and I’m debuting another IPA- James John from Peninsula Beerworks. Cheers and hope to see you there!
