Oakshire Brewing Opens Oakshire Commons Taproom In Springfield, Oregon

April 2, 2025: SPRINGFIELD, OR –  Oakshire Brewing quietly opened its newest taproom location on April 1, welcoming friends and family to the heart of historic downtown Springfield. Located at 416 Main Street, the Oakshire Commons features 20 taps of Oakshire’s award-winning beers alongside a curated selection of local ciders, wines, kombucha, and non-alcoholic options. The new location will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 AM to 10 PM and Sundays from 11 AM to 9 PM. Oakshire is excited to welcome community members to experience their exceptional craft beer in a warm, artisan-crafted space. 

The Oakshire Commons showcases the brewery’s commitment to craftsmanship through thoughtful design elements throughout the space. Reclaimed old-growth Douglas Fir tables and back service bar features were handcrafted by local woodworker Caleb Bruce and his team. Urban Lumber contributed beautifully crafted tables and the distinctive front window bar. Surrounding the space is a unique picture rail system crafted from the same reclaimed old-growth Douglas Fir, which adds warmth and one-of-a-kind character to bring the entire taproom to life. This distinctive feature will allow Oakshire to regularly showcase rotating work from local artists, creating an ever-evolving gallery experience for guests. 

“Collaborating with skilled local artisans to bring our vision to life has been one of the most rewarding aspects of this project,” said Jeff Althouse, CEO and Founder of Oakshire Brewing. “We’ve always believed that the environment where people gather to enjoy our beer should reflect the same care and attention to detail that goes into brewing it. Working with craftsmen like Caleb Bruce and Urban Lumber allowed us to create a space that honors Springfield’s heritage while offering our community a warm, welcoming place to connect. 

The Oakshire Commons will also feature a pizza kitchen, set to open on Friday, April 25. The kitchen will serve Oakshire’s square pan pizzas, which debuted at their Portland Beer Hall in 2022. These unique pies draw inspiration from Detroit and Sicilian styles with their golden, fluffy crust and crispy cheese edges, but they have their own identity with traditional layering of the toppings. The timing coincides with a weekend of local events, including the Tiki Prom at neighboring establishment Monkey’s Paw on Friday night and the Eugene Marathon, which will pass directly in front of the taproom on Sunday, April 27. Until then, and even after the kitchen opens, guests will always be welcome to bring food from the many excellent restaurants nearby. 

“We’ve put the same level of care and attention into developing our food program as we do with our beers,” said Megan Galbraith, Taproom Director at Oakshire Brewing. “Our pizza kitchen showcases another dimension of our craftsmanship, using specially designed pans from the Pacific Northwest and a unique dough recipe that we’ve perfected through years of delicious research. Beer and pizza create a timeless, unbeatable pairing, and we’re thrilled to offer both under one roof. We’re excited to open the kitchen during a weekend of community events when we can welcome both locals and visitors to experience everything Oakshire has to offer.” 

Oakshire Brewing will host an official Grand Opening celebration for the Oakshire Commons on Saturday, May 3. The event will be an Oakshire Inspires benefit for the McKenzie Community Land Trust, a group dedicated to providing access to land for affordable housing and supporting economic development throughout the McKenzie River community. The celebration will feature live music and other festivities throughout the day.
