Laurelwood Releases Piston Pale Ale & Sells Their Battle Ground Location
|Piston Pale Ale, the second in Laurelwood Brewing’s new “Pub Series”, is set to hit store shelves in 22oz bottles in the coming weeks. Piston Pale will also be available on draft at Laurelwood and better beer bars.
This beer was brewed in honor of Laurelwood Co-Founder Mike De Kalb, as it was one of his favorite beers and for Laurelwood’s 13th anniversary on March 21st. Piston Pale Ale is a light, crisp, hoppy northwest interpretation of a classic British style. There is a nice citrus aroma from Cascade hop additions in the boil, hop back and in fermentation.
Piston Pale Ale will be replacing their first release in the Pub Series, Winter Pale. The Pub Series itself is replacing 22oz bottles of their Free Range Red since this brew is now available in friendly 6 pack bottles.
Piston Pale Ale Stats:
- American Pale Ale
- OG 13
- ABV 5.6%
- IBU 35
- Malts: Two-row, Crystal Malts
- Hops: Nugget, Cascade
In other Laurelwood news, they recently sold their Battle Ground, Washington location. The former Battle Ground location is changing ownership and will now be called Northwood Public House & Brewery.
“It comes with mixed feelings we announce that Laurelwood Battle Ground is changing hands this week,” said Laurelwood Area Manager Desi Riscol. Northwood Public House & Brewery is dedicated to keeping the family friendly environment and community focused business model. “This is a business decision based on routing resources back into the brewery and brewing production. We have appreciated the family atmosphere that the Battle Ground staff and community have provided to Laurelwood over the years,” stated Laurelwood Owner Mike De Kalb.
Laurelwood has had a presence in the Battle Ground community for a little over five years. De Kalb also said, “The BG location is in great hands with the new ownership. We look forward to seeing this new venture and our family of employees grow in a bright new direction.” The new ownership is committed to keeping the current staff on through the transition and help build the location into something bigger and better for the Battle Ground community.
The new Northwoods Public House & Brewery will soon begin brewing at the newly named Little Dipper Brewing Company. This nano brewery will get off the ground with the assistance of brewer Thomas Sluiter. He’s been the head brewer at Old Market Brewery in Portland, OR since 2002. Tom is also a talented sake brewer, lover of sour beers and barley wine so stay tuned for some true originals from him to launch their Big Beers from Little Dipper series.
