Whiskey Wednesday – Bib & Tucker 6 Year Old Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey

Hailing from Columbia, Tennessee is Bib & Tucker, a sourced bourbon that’s distilled in Tennessee. Part of the larger Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits family, Bib & Tucker is a line of three different aged bourbons, a 6-year, 10-year, and 12-year, all packaged in beautiful retro embossed brown bottles with a cork topper. It is this package that drew us towards this bourbon at the liquor store.

This week we take a look at its entry level bourbon, Bib & Tucker 6-Year-Old Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey. Bib & Tucker takes its name from the 18th century of dressing up in one’s finest clothes for a night out. This bourbon is aged for six years and sits at 92 proof. The bottle we sampled is from Batch No. 22 and Bottle No. 2394. A pleasant way to make the drinker feel a bit special with this hand numbered bottling!

Bib & Tucker Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey is said to be crafted from a mash bill consisting of 70% corn, 26% rye and 4% malted barley. These grains are then distilled twice, first through a column still and then through an old-fashioned copper pot still. Once the distillation process is finished, Bib & Tucker is aged in No. 1 charred American white oak barrels for a minimum of six years.

Upon opening the cork topper, a nice pop sound emulates from the embossed brown bottle. Up front are flavorful aromas of vanilla that’s followed by faint notes of leather. Flavors of spice and ginger are noticed first. Then a bit of caramel and dried stone fruit come through. Bib & Tucker finishes with a bit of sweetness and lingering spice. It’s a bit amazing at the amount of spice considering its mash bill.

Bib & Tucker Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey has earned a score of 96 points from Tasting Panel Magazine. It has also won a few other awards over the past three years.
