Weekend In Beer – Beginning February 23, 2023
|After last weekend’s Zwickelmania at Portland area breweries, this Saturday will bring the brewery tours and beers served from the zwickel to the rest of Oregon. We will be in Bend partaking and looking forward to a possibly snowy weekend there!
But this weekend there’s much more to do than only touring breweries. Tonight the stout train continues rolling along as Fort George Brewery will take over a considerable number of taps at Belmont Station. Then over in Beaverton, Breakside Brewery will have its Life Barleywine Series on tap. Yes, all six varieties! Hopefully this will not be the only time all six varieties are showcased.
On Friday, two three-day winter beer festivals begin. In Hillsboro, the 2nd Annual Hillsbrew Fest returns with dozens of breweries. For those looking for a more rustic festival, The Suttle Lodge Winter Beer Festival also welcomes in imbibers with over three dozen of breweries being served.
And if that is not enough, Threshold Brewing celebrates its 4th Anniversary on Saturday afternoon. If you’re in the mood for some chili, Uptown Beer Co. has you covered on Saturday with its Chili Con V: A Song of Spice and Fire.
Learn more about these events and others from our beery weekend picks below!

Breakside Brewery Life 1-6 Barleywine Showcase

Each recipe is built around the nuances of the malt from the following producers, respectively:
Simpsons Malt — 5th generation maltster from Northumberland, England
Thomas Fawcett — 7th generation family maltster in West Yorkshire England, operating for more than 200 years
Crisp Malt — the 10th largest malting company in the world, established in 1870, with two facilities in England
Minch Malt — Ireland’s oldest maltster, producing malted barley that is 100% Irish origin
Bairds Malt — Malting for 199 years with facilities in Scotland and England

Everybody’s Brewing X Swift Cider Showcase
Thursday, February 23 – 5:00-8:00pm
Everybody’s Brewing and Swift Cider are taking over 16 taps at Loyal Legion SE PDX! Meet the brewer and cider maker will take place from 5:00-8:00pm.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to the Portland Audubon, in honor of Portland’s Vaux Swifts, Swift Cider’s namesake.
Vaux Swifts flock to Portland each harvest season by the thousands to roost inside old brick chimneys on their annual migration. Locals convene to toast the birds as they dive into one particular chimney at sunset. The swifts inspire Swift Cider’s natural process and challenge them to create remarkable ciders for the whole flock.
