Meet Ninkasi Founding Brewmaster Jamie Floyd @ White Owl Social Club

Angelo | December 2, 2014 | Oregon beer, places to drink beer, press releases | No Comments

Ninkasi founding brewer Jamie Floyd

Ninkasi ninja Jamie FloydI must admit that one of the worst/best press releases came across my desk today from the White Owl Social Club in Portland (okay so it wasn’t a desk I speak of, it was my laptop/phone).  First of all, to get the gripes out of the way first, said release was troubling to receive strictly on how poorly it was constructed. To be frank, I can’t stand receiving emails that feature all recipients in the “TO” field. C’mon y’all, learn how to use blind copy when sending releases (that’s what the “BCC” field is for if you are still unaware). No one likes spam, viruses, and the like. You down with BCC? Yeah you know me! To their credit at least I knew most of the other media recipients unlike last week when a brewery promoter messaged me alongside 186 other recipients in the “TO” field. C’mon people!

I’ve posted the press release below for you read because there are some really cool things going on at this event and I don’t want my rant about a not so well constructed press release when the event itself sounds astounding! In fact, there’s no overshadowing a few basic and awesome facts:

1) An iconic “rockstar” beer celeb will be in attendance for the event. Ninkasi Brewing Co. founding brewmaster Jamie Floyd will be there. Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Jamie knows his breadth of knowledge and passion for craft beer runs very deep.

2) The beer to pour at this event is going to be worth your time. Any relatively seasoned winter craft beer lover knows how delicious Sleigh’r is by now, Especially those of you living in the Pacific Northwest. On top of this, A special treat – Imperial Sleigh’r! Are you kidding me?! Right there is worth the ticket of admission.

3) Its a free event, The beer ain’t free but you can pick Jamie Floyd’s brain while he’s there from 5 to 8 PM.

4) Two new single hopped beers from Ninkasi that you will likely not find into many places around town… Heck you might not find them anywhere else for all we know. Stay tuned…

Here’s the details from the press release we received from our friends at White Owl Social Club:

White Owl Social Club

Hello lovers of the craft! Looking for something to do this Tuesday? White Owl Social Club will be hosting a free “Meet The Brewer” event with Ninkasi co-owner, co-founder and brewmaster Jamie Floyd! Come drink beers and pick his brain on all things beer! Both Sleigh’r and Imperial Sleigh’r will be pouring, alongside a couple new experimental single hopped brews featuring Jarrylo and “07270”. You read that correctly, that hop is so fresh it doesn’t even have its own name yet! Give it a test drive and chuck your name ideas at the man himself! This is a unique experience that doesn’t come up often, and especially in not in such a pleasurable atmosphere as White Owl. So, yeah, you know what to do!

WHEN: Tuesday, 12/2

TIME: 5-8pm

WHERE: White Owl Social Club, 1305 SE 8th Ave, Portland, OR

COST: No admission
