Your Thirsty Thursday: Craft Beer Events for October 1st
|Get Stoned with the Mongers
5 p.m. Thursday Oct. 1, The BeerMongers, 1125 S.E. Division St.;
The Mongers celebrate the first day of legal recreational pot sales in Oregon – O blessed day; as Monger Chris Tappan said, “I never thought I’d be in a state with good beer AND legal pot, coming from Florida, where they’ll put you in jail for a joint…” – anyway, pot won’t be part of the celebration, not officially, anyhow, but there WILL be a selection of rare Stone Brewing beers on tap, including Ruination 2.0 Double Dry Hopped, 2014 Old Guardian Barleywine, Vertical Epic 08/08/08 and 12/12/12. There will be some bottle pours and other specials. Also, the Beer Mongers Cycle Club will be there for a photograph and Good to the Last Lap, their pale ale brewed in collaboration with Stormbreaker Brewing, should be pouring.
Monster Mash Release Party
4 p.m. Thursday Oct. 1, Lompoc Sidebar, 3901 N. Williams Ave.;
Lompoc releases Monster Mash, their annual pumpkin-free fall beer, with the usual Lompoc hospitality. Here’s what they have to say about it: “No graveyard bash is complete without a batch of this monster brew, a full-bodied, full-flavored mash-up of a half dozen dark specialty malts. Chocolate, rauch and kilned coffee grains hint at this big brew’s profile. The malty sweetness is balanced nicely with the bitter notes of dark chocolate and coffee, alongside Centennial, Cascade and Willamette hops. At 8.1 percent it’s a monster indeed – and just $4 per 22-ounce bottle at all Lompoc locations…”
Burnside Fresh Hop & Pumpkin Beer Release
4 p.m. Thursday Oct. 1, Burnside Brewing, 701 E. Burnside St.;
The Burnside crew will be pouring several new beers including Fresh Hop Keller Couch; The Dapper Skeleton, Burnside’s pumpkin ale enlivened with spices, chilis and cocoa nibs; Haller Blanc Gurl Pilsner, brewer Natalie Baldwin’s lateste creation; and Granny’s Fruit Basket, which will be served through a Randall filled with whole cone Chinooks.
