Night of 1000 ¡Tepaches! at Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider
|
The origins of tepache hail from south of the U.S. border in Mexico. Tepache is the result of using the rind and the peel of pineapples to create a low alcohol fermented beverage. Locally Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider has been dabbling in this Mexican practice with its own variations of tepache. Reverend Nat’s will occasionally mix its ¡Tepache! with various Mexican lagers in its taproom.
With the heat of summer pounding us here in Portland a tepache is a delightful drink to keep the heat at bay. On Saturday, July 11th, Reverend Nat’s will host its Night of 1000 ¡Tepaches! in its taproom from 4:00 to 11:00pm. Here patrons will find a selection of tepaches blended with beers from local breweries.
There will be 20 blends of ¡Tepache! available for tastes, including 5 beer blends from some of the participating breweries below, a couple beer blends of our own, some other-cidery collab blends, and more weird flavored blends. There is no entry fee to attend, tokens are $2.00 each and may be exchanged for a 4 oz pour of ¡Tepache! or ¡Tepache! mix.
It is rumored that the 1st ten guests to arrive will receive a coconut from which to drink ¡Tepache! from. But wouldn’t be better to be sipping from a pineapple? Further rumors circulate of a Wesvleteren 12 blend and/or a Speedway Stout blend.
Participating breweries this week will be pouring its own blends leading up to Saturday’s Night of 1000 ¡Tepaches!.
