Weekend In Beer – Beginning April 20, 2023
|The beer calendar is beginning to take shape for the weekend ahead. Things kick off today in downtown Milwaukie as the Beer Store celebrates its 7th anniversary. On tap will be a few offerings from Bell’s Brewery along with plenty of swag giveaways.
On Friday, the Pine Street Taproom will host its three-day Spring Cider Fest. We recommend saving some room for some ramen as Drift Boat PDX is in the market through Saturday.
Then on Saturday, Baker’s Dozen returns to John’s Marketplace on SE Powell that’s followed by two sessions of Salmon Safe IPA Festival at nearby Hopworks Brewery. For those in Bend, Crux Fermentation Project will host its Saisons on the Lawn.

Loyal Legion 4/20 Spotlight
Thursday, April 20 – 5:00-8:00pm
Get dank at Loyal Legion in Beaverton as the bar’s taplist will include the best beers for 4/20. The list includes Silver City Brewing Chronic, Ex Novo Puff Puff Passion Fruit Sour, and more.
Plus, Loyal Legion’s kitchen will be cranking out major munchies, including the beloved corndog that’s made with an Olympia Provisions frankfurter, and hand-dipped in-house batter. Yum!

Beer Store 7th Anniversary

Downtown Milwaukie’s Beer Store has been serving up some great beers all paired with a food menu that’ll satisfy any hunger. This evening the Beer Store will be celebrating its 7th anniversary.
The festivities will include swag giveaways and a taplist that will include Two Heard IPA and Oberon from Bell’s Brewery. Plus, the brewery will be passing out its swag from 6:00-7:00pm!

Portland’s Spring Cider Fest
Friday, April 21 – Sunday, April 23 – Noon-7:00pm
Three days of ciders come to the Pine Street Market in downtown Portland. Attendees can expect to taste ciders made from different types of apples and other fruits, such as pears and berries. There will be options for both sweet and dry palates, ensuring that everyone finds a cider they love.
Since the Spring Cider Fest takes place in the historic Pine Street Market, arrive hungry as there are plenty of food options, including the Drink Boat PDX Pop-Up. Chef Jeremy Hansen is serving up ramen dishes through Saturday, April 22.

7th Annual Baker’s Dozen
Saturday, April 22 – 10:00am-1:00pm
Baker’s Dozen – Coffee Beers and Doughnuts Festival returns for its seventh year to Portland. This annual fest brings together coffee, beer, and doughnuts. Each brewer uses beans from a different roaster. Admission includes all 13 coffee beers, samples of several of the specific coffees, morsels of all 13 doughnuts, and a souvenir glass.

Wild Ride Classic Car Show

The Classic Car Show Season kicks off with the Wild Ride Classic Car Show. This show features classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Food Trucks are on site as well as beer and soda at Wild Ride Brewing. Awards Ceremony with Trophies will start at 2:30 pm on the patio of Wild Ride Brewing.

Salmon-Safe IPA Fest
Saturday, April 22 – Noon-4:00pm + 5:00-9:00pm
After making its debut five years ago in 2018, the second edition of the Salmon-Safe IPA Festival returns to Hopworks Brewery on Saturday, April 22, 2023. The IPA festival will feature 20 different beers made with certified Salmon-Safe hops and grain, from 18 brewers across five Western states.
he 2023 Salmon-Safe IPA Fest will take place over two sessions on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22nd. The first session is from Noon-4:00pm and the second session is from 5:00-9:00pm. All IPAs being served at the event are made with Salmon-Safe hops and grains.
Participating breweries include Hopworks, Worthy, Widmer, Migration, Pfriem, Bale Breaker, Crux, Topa Topa, Deschutes, Sunriver, Falling Sky, Aslan/Lost Grove, Steeplejack, Georgetown, Reubens, Little Beast, New Belgium and more. The Oregon Brew Crew, an alliance of homebrewers, will also be presenting two beers.
Tickets are $30.00 per person over 21, and are on sale now. $5.00 from each festival ticket sold goes to Oregon Wild to support their work, which ultimately benefits every Oregonian.

Saisons on the Lawn
Saturday, April 22 – Noon-8:00pm
Saisons will be in the spotlight at Crux Fermentation Project on Saturday as it hosts Saisons on the Lawn.
The Bend brewer has invited a few of their brewing friends for the day’s festivities. In total there will be nine Saisons being served. This includes Saisons from Alesong Brewing & Blending, Wolf Tree Brewery, Ferment Brewing Co., Monkless Belgian Ales, The Ale Apothecary, Deschutes Brewery, Wolves & People Farmhouse Brewery, Little Beast Brewing, and the host brewery, Crux Fermentation Project.
In addition to the Saisons, Crux has a full day of live music lined up. Matt Mitchell will kick things off from Noon-2:00pm, followed by Evan Mullins & CJ Neary from 2:30-4:30pm and ending with One Mad Man from 5-7pm.
Entry is free. Taster package is $20 and includes a special 9oz Belgian-style glass and 5 tokens. Additional tokens can be purchased for $2. Each token gets you a 4oz sample. Or fill your glass with 2 tokens. All proceeds benefit the Oregon Brewers Guild.
