Weekend In Beer – Beginning November 24, 2023

This extended holiday weekend is full of dark beers with events all across the region. When it comes to these dark beers there will be events at Roscoe’s, Breakside Brewery, Deschutes Brewery, Uptown Beer Co. McMenamins 23rd Avenue Bottle Shop to name a few!

If you find yourself in Central Oregon, swing by Crater Lakes Distillery for the one-day sale of Black Butte Whiskey Cask Strength. This whiskey is only available one day per year and Black Friday is the day!

Black Butte Whiskey Release

Crater Lake Spirits releases its Black Butte Whiskey Cask Strength on Black Friday, This cask strength version is only available for sale one day a year and today is the day for it. The distillery will also have the 9th release of its Black Butte Whiskey available for purchase! Tastings and bottle sales only.

Roscoe’s Black Friday Holiday Beer Summit

Roscoe’s Black Friday Holiday Summit returns this weekend for three days beginning at Noon on Friday. There will be vintage kegs, holiday beers, and plenty of holiday cheer!

A few of the breweries and beers include pFriem Belgian Christmas, De Dolle Stille Nacht, Vintage Samichlaus, Nitro Ill Tempered Gnome, 2017 Fremont Barrel Aged Abominable, 2016 Hopworks Kentucky Christmas, Vintage Deschutes The Abyss and more!

Ecliptic Brewing Archive Sale

After closing its doors this past Saturday evening. Eclipitic Brewing will be open for just three hours to host a beer sale. There will be properly cellared vintage barrel-aged beer offerings that date back to 2014.

The Abyss Brunch

It’s brunch season at the Deschutes Brewery Portland Public House. For the next six Saturdays, the Portland Deschutes Brewery outpost will host themed brunches and it kicks off this week with The Abyss Brunch!

On the day after Black Friday, immerse yourself in the deep, rich flavors of dark beer paired with a hearty breakfast. Experience the delightful synergy of Abyss beers with brunch classics.

Breakside Cellarbration

The festive holiday season begins at Breakside Brewery’s Slabtown location on Saturday as it hosts Breakside Cellarbration. This event will feature Breakside’s delicious barrel-aged beers being served alongside local makers at a pop-up holiday market.

Come sample six pours of the brewery’s award-winning vintage collection for just $20. Entry also includes a keepsake glass to take home.

As you wander and wonder through the rich flavors, Breakside’s accompanying pop-up market will showcase an eclectic assembly of local artisans. Featured artisans include Glenwood Candles, Dark Forest Leather, Felicia Murray Fiber Arts, Helen Rose Skin Care, Briones Made, Austin Smoldt-Sáenz and Hustle Home Decor.

Uptown Beer Black Saturday 7th Annual Dark Beer Fest
Saturday, November 25 – 6:00-9:00pm
Out in the west Portland hills, Uptown Beer Co. will celebrate Black Saturday for the seventh year in a row. The fan-favorite festival entices dark beer lovers with an emphasis on rare and aged brews on tap. This year features dark beers from BinaryBrewing.co, StormBreaker, Ex Novo, Buoy, Breakside, Matchless, Epic Brewing, Crux, Block 15, Fort George, pFriem, The Bruery, Mazama, Fremont, Alesmith, Modern Times, JackieI O’s, Goose Island, and more.

Tickets are currently on sale at www.uptownbeer.co for $30, which includes a commemorative pint glass, sticker and 5 tasters. Additional tasters will be available for purchase at the event. MidCity Smash will be showcasing their menu and specials for Black Saturday as well.

Barnstormer Whiskey Release
Sunday, November 26 – 3:00-5:00pm
The collaboration between StormBreaker Brewing and Stone Barn Brandyworks continues. This year’s Barnstormer Imperial Red Straight Malt Whiskey barrel release is 92 proof and is described as offering bright butterscotch notes, hints of its red ale origins, and spice from the rye malt. The barley malts fused into a delicious Imperial blend that’s mellow with a sweet, lingering finish.

On Sunday, Stone Barn and StormBreaker will be hosting a complimentary sample pairing of Barnstormer with StormBreaker’s Mississippi Red Ale at its Mississippi Ave. location. Samples will be available to all customers so they can try this latest release of Barnstormer Imperial Red Straight Malt Whiskey.
