McMenamins Crystal Brewery and Ghost Bath Team Up on the Latest Blasphemous Collaboration
|The latest in the Blasphemous Collaboration Series will be released next week on Wednesday, July 13, when Ghost Bath makes its Portland debut at Lola’s Room inside the historic Crystal Ballroom. For this show McMenamins Crystal Brewery, led by head brewer Drew Phillips, brewed Moonlover Saison for the band’s upcoming performance.
Controversial band Ghost Bath, whose namesake refers to the act of committing suicide by submerging in a body of water, will soon make their Portland debut at Lola’s Room in the historic Crystal Ballroom. Portraying both deep anguish and angelic soundscapes, they promise to leave an impression on the listener. Having done just that, the Moonlover Saison was born for the fourth Blasphemous Collaboration.
Moonlover Saison Description:
Our “funerary” Saison was brewed in collaboration with black metallurgists Ghost Bath for our Blasphemous Collaboration Series. Itself a refreshing ale featuring many classic Saison flavors and aromas, Moonlover is meant to evoke sights and smells of 19th century wakes and funerals. You’ll first notice a distinct floral aroma, imparted by the addition of organic elderflower post-fermentation. Moonlover also underwent the process of minor kettle souring, which imparted a subtle sourness to complement the citrus aromas added during fermentation. Grassy Tettnanger Hops lend an earthiness to the brew, balancing the light, bready body of Pilsen Malt. Unmalted Wheat and the naturally cloudy yeast strain give the ale a “ghostly” appearance. We hope you enjoy this lovely little beer and join us for Ghost Bath’s first Portland concert on July 13th in Lola’s Room.
