Rogue Ales & Spirits Expands to Jacksonville, Oregon With a Pop-Up Location
After closing a few of its outposts in recent years, Rogue Ales & Spirits will expand with a new location, its seventh, in the state of Oregon. For this one, albeit a six month run, will see the brewery make its return to its roots in Southern Oregon next week with the opening of Rogue Ales’ Patio at the Schoolhouse on the historic Bigham Knoll campus in Jacksonville.
Though Rogue Is now based along the Oregon Coast in Newport, the brewery was founded in 1988 by Jack Joyce, Bob Woodell, Rob Strasser and Jeff Schultz in a basement pub in downtown Ashland, Oregon. The brewpub was situated alongside the Lithia Creek and the following year a flood wiped out the brewery.
It was also in 1989 when Jack Joyce visited Newport and signed the lease to its new brewery along the downtown waterfront district. Rogue then moved its operations to the coast as it hired John Mayer to helm the brewhouse at the Bay Front Brew Pub. From there, the brewery expanded to its current larger facility across the bay from downtown and has grown to become one of the most recognizable craft breweries.
Now some 35 years later, Rogue will return to Southern Oregon to the historic Schoolhouse in Jacksonville, once home to the German influenced Schoolhaus Brewhaus. This new location will offer its fans to sample through all of Rogue’s offerings beginning on June 1, 2024 at 11:30am.
“We are beyond excited to return to where Rogue started 36 years ago in Southern Oregon,” said Rogue Ales & Spirits President Steven Garrett. “This Jacksonville location at Bigham Knoll is a celebration of our roots, innovation, and commitment to crafting exceptional experiences for our community.”
For the opening on June 1, there will be live music, food from Black Barn Farm, local wines, and beers on opening day. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the Rogue family, this promises a summer of excitement, community, and craft excellence.
Current plans have this location running from June 1 through the end of the year, open Wednesday – Sunday, 11:30 AM – 10:00 PM.
