Chuckanut Brewery Collaborates with Chuck’s Hop Shop and Elizabeth Station on West Coast Pils
|A new hoppy Pilsner has arrived from the lager-centric Chuckanut Brewery. On its new West Coast Pils, the Burlington, Washington based brewer has collaborated with the Seattle area Chuck’s Hop Shops and Bellingham’s Elizabeth Station.
Chuckanut Brewery describes its new West Coast Pils as being after the popular West Coast IPA. The hoppy Pilsner style itself is not new and was a bit trendy nearly a decade ago when it was commonly referred to as an India Pale Lager, or IPL for short.
Now this style is back in vogue and is more commonly being referred to as a West Coast Pilsner, a name that Chuckanut has latched onto. It’s a beer that has a snappy hop profile all the while being quite crushable.
On its West Coast Pils, Chuckanut has dry-hopped this beer with Strata, Comet and Mosaic cryo hops to give this lager vibrant notes of grapefruit and lychee. It also has resinous undertones that swarm the palate with hops filling the mouth with fruity aromas. At 5.9% ABV and 40 IBUs, West Coast Pils is one of the more hoppier beers in Chuckanut’s portfolio.
Chuckanut recommends serving its new West Coast Pils in a traditional pilsner glass to receive the full effect of its beauty and aromas. The beer is also great to pair with a shrimp scampi or spicy Thai dish like Green Papaya Salad.
West Coast Pills will be available on draft at both Chuckanut Brewery locations – Chuckanut Tap Room at 11937 Higgins Airport Way in Burlington, WA and its P. Nut Beer Hall at 920 SE Caruthers St. in Portland. It will also be available at all three Seattle area Chuck’s Hop Shops and Elizabeth Station in Bellingham.
