Double Mountain Brewery Unleashes Bier Wulf Bavarian IPA

A new IPA from Double Mountain Brewery & Cidery is beginning to hit the market and this one is inspired from the land of Bavaria, Germany. Bier Wulf Bavarian IPA is a nod to the hops from Germany but with an Americanized touch to it.

In designing the recipe for Bier Wulf Bavarian IPA, the basis of this beer came from brewing an IPA utilizing the earthy tones of German hops with the vibrant citrus notes its American grown counterparts. The German malts provide a harmonizing foundation, allowing the hops to take center stage. While the use of Hygge yeast lends a clean ferment with light fruit esters, resulting in a dry finish and a pleasantly bready mouthfeel.

Drawing inspiration from Bavarian brewing traditions, Bier Wulf features a carefully curated blend of malts, including Gambrinous Pils, Weyerman Vienna, Weyerman Carafoam, and Weyerman Acidulated. Complemented by a selection of hops such as Cascade, Citra, Manderina Bavaria, and Arianna, Bier Wulf offers a taste of exploration, with notes of ripe citrus, grapefruit pith, and spicy evergreen howling across the palate.

The appearance of Bier Wulf is described as being akin to “Sunshine in Brugge”, while its aroma evokes images of wildflowers, bright citrus, and sticky fruit. With a medium bitterness on the tongue and a dry, crisp finish complemented by hints of pineapple, orange, lemon, and pine, Bier Wulf promises an exploration of all of your inner wolf senses. Bier Wulf sits at 5.8% ABV and 37 IBUs.
