Stone Brewing Releases Stone Ghost Hammer IPA, Stone Mocha IPA, and Stone RuinTen Triple IPA
|Just in time for summer Stone Brewing has just released Stone Ghost Hammer IPA, Stone Mocha IPA, and Stone RuinTen Triple IPA with Orange Peel & Vanilla Bean.
Here are more details on each of the beers provided by Stone Brewing.
STONE GHOST HAMMER IPA
From the dark recessses of the brewery, emerges a new, unfiltered IPA brewed with Loral hops. In tribute to the overnight Stone Brew Crew, this canned specialty seasonal makes an ethereal appearance, with a floral, lemony and tropical explosion. The name Stone Ghost Hammer IPA refers to the occasional creaking of the knocking pipes in the brewery, which are especially noticeable during the quieter overnight brewing shifts.
“Our quest for using new and different hops never ends,” says Jeremy Moynier, Senior Innovation Brewing Manager. “Stone Ghost Hammer IPA is our latest beer to highlight innovation in the hop world with a newer hop called Loral, which is named by combining the words ‘lemon’ and ‘floral’ as a nod to the strong lemony notes and its intense floral aroma. Additionally, Loral has some classic European noble hop qualities, making it overall a very unique and exciting hop.”
Stats: 6.7 % ABV, 56 IBUs
Availability: Nationwide release in 12-ounce can in six-packs and draft
Featured Hop: Loral
International Distribution: Australia, Costa Rica, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Panama, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand
Appearance: Pours golden with some haze and a white head.
Aroma: An intense floral nose with candy, mango, lemon and pine.
Taste: Lemon sorbet, hard candy, spice, with herbal and noble-hop undertones.
Palate: Crisp and clean. Very balanced with subtle bitterness.
Overall: This new IPA takes the love for the Loral hop a step further by showcasing it in this unfiltered, moderate (by Stone Brewing standards) ABV beer. A simple malt bill lets Loral be the star here and by going unfiltered, this beer retains as much of the floral, citrus, and herbal qualities as possible. A truly unique and remarkable IPA!
STONE MOCHA IPA
With the triumphant return of a fan favorite, clearly the lines have been drawn with this double IPA Imperial Seasonal that combines the uniquely refreshing characteristics of a bright, fruity IPA and satisfying mocha overtones. With deliberate disregard for traditional brewing styles, this revolutionary IPA blurs the lines between an IPA and a stout. Technically an all-out double IPA, this decadent creation is brewed with the combination of golden-roasted coffee, pure dark chocolate and citrusy hops. The result is a love child of a beer characterized by a beautiful meld of imperial IPA and mocha indulgence, brewed with actual cacao, milk sugar and coffee. Vivid burst of fresh, golden-roasted coffee, pure dark chocolate and a barrage of citrusy hops, creates this unconventional and hedonistic delight.
Stats: 9% ABV, 80 IBUs
Availability: Nationwide seasonal in 12-ounce bottles in six-packs and draft
Featured Hops: Cascade, Citra and Amarillo
International Distribution: Australia, Costa Rica, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Panama, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand
Appearance: Deep copper with a tan head of foam.
Aroma: Coffee, cocoa and citrusy hops, in that order!
Taste: Cocoa hits first, then coffee. The beer finishes with a nice citrus zing from the Citra and Amarillo hops, where all the flavors play perfectly together.
Palate: Full bodied, smooth, with a bitter finish.
Overall: Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station Brewing Manager Kris Ketcham was inspired by two beers: “Aleman / Two Brothers / Stone DayMan Coffee IPA” and “Stone Stochasticity Project: Master of Disguise,” to create this epic IPA in 2015. With both coffee and cocoa influence, this masterpiece was an instant smash hit. And now we’ve found a great home for it!
STONE RUINTEN TRIPLE IPA W/ ORANGE PEEL & VANILLA BEAN
Loud, aggressive, and quite eccentric, this mega-hopped success is not one to hold back. Stone RuinTen Triple IPA earned a rabid following of hopheads clamoring for its return each year. With an avant-garde amplification to the classic Stone Ruination IPA, this triple IPA includes two new ingredients of Orange Peel and Vanilla Bean and to achieve its sweet jam session of flavor. With hops in overdrive, not just in the boil, the result is pure magic.
Stats: 10.8 % ABV, 110 IBUs
Availability: Nationwide release in 22-ounce bottles and draft
Featured Hops: Magnum, Centennial and Citra
National Distribution: AK, AL, AR, CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, NE, NH, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, and Puerto Rico
International Distribution: Australia, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand
Appearance: Deep gold with an off-white, fluffy head.
Aroma: Orange and vanilla throughout, with a nice dankness underneath and hop aromas of lemon, nectarine, pineapple, and tropical fruit.
Taste: Orange and vanilla melds into an abundance of tropical hop flavors. There is a balance of pleasant maltiness and hops with a long, lingering finish.
Palate: A very big beer, rounded out with bitterness on the finish, and a nice warming from the high ABV.
Overall: With two new ingredients, this Stone RuinTen Triple IPA spin-off still delivers the original’s beloved whopping amounts of hops. Its’s as intense as you get, with all the great hoppiness of a solid malt backbone that you come to expect.
It would have been better if it would have been a Ghose.
