Take in the Fall Season Visiting Grants Pass with Excellent Beer, Wine and Food Adventures
|Oregon is home to many scenic areas and when autumn arrives it brings out a new sense of adventure. Well we all know what comes next and it’s best to get outdoors before the rainy season arrives.
One area of the state that has plenty to offer in both scenery and indulgence this time of year is Southern Oregon. The region is home to many travel worthy destinations and one such place to not overlook is Grants Pass. During harvest season, Grants Pass offers activities for the entire family, and of course plenty of beerventures during the fall season.
When it comes to beer, Grants Pass is home to the impressive Weekend Beer Co. and a couple of Wild River Brewing Pubs. The city is also home to Blossom Barn Cidery and two distilleries – Steam Distillery and Sundance Distilling.
To kick things off this fall season, the Grants Pass Chamber of Commerce is excited to host the Downtown Tap Walk on Saturday, October 12th. Taking place from 2:00 – 6:00pm, participating breweries partner with downtown businesses to serve up creative fall flavors. Attendees stroll the downtown streets, sampling the local cuisine and sipping specialty craft beers in commemorative pint glasses.
At the Downtown Tap Walk, participants will receive a commemorative event pint glass, an insulated re-usable tote for shopping and a map of participating locations. There will be (4) FREE trolley stops along the event route for ease of reaching the further locations.
Tickets can be purchased at the Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce located at 1995 NW Vine Street OR online at www.grantspasschamber.org. Advance tickets are $45 and day of, if available, are $50.
For those that enjoy wine, the Applegate Valley Wine Trail celebrates harvest with the Fall Uncorked tasting tour. With over 17 tasting rooms, Applegate Valley Wine Country provides ample opportunities to celebrate the season’s harvest while guests sip wine and chat with the valley’s winemakers. The Uncorked self-guided tour will take place on Saturday, November 23, and each stop along the tour will offer an appetizer and wine pairing. Attendees can taste special vintages and learn about the wineries’ viticulture while shopping for the perfect wine-lover gifts just in time for the holidays.
Then for family friendly activities, the Grants Pass area channels the autumn vibes with pumpkin patches and ghost towns. A visit to the Fort Vannoy Farms pumpkin patch allows visitors to navigate the corn maze, shoot apple cannons, and pick out the perfect pumpkin. Visitors will delight in delicious organic produce and handmade crafts and pastries.
For those looking for a thrill, The Ghost Town of Golden is a popular spooky stop. Just north of Grants Pass sits the once-booming mining town where visitors can explore the deserted town, including buildings like the church and schoolhouse, and possibly even meet the ghosts of Golden’s past.
