Alameda Releases "My Bloody Valentine"
|The brewers at Alameda Brewhouse just tapped a new beer for Valentine’s day: My Bloody Valentine is a deep red-hued Blood Orange Saison. This dry, citric, tart, and spritzy farmhouse ale is incredibly drinkable at 5.5% ABV. According to brewer Sean White, it pairs well with dark chocolate and sweets (“hint: the chocolate brownie here at Alameda”. White adds “The orange aroma and a little of the flavor comes from the use of dried orange peels in the kettle, followed later by the addition of hand squeezed blood orange juice to the finished beer. Saaz hops complement the peppery aromatics from the saison yeast and the citrus flavor adding yet another dimension to an already interesting beer. We also hand bottled and waxed a limited quantity (just 21 cases) of the Bloody that will make great Valentine’s day gifts and are for sale at Alameda Brewhouse only.”

I love the band. Can’t wait to taste the brew.
Man, you guys ripped off the name of a great beer made by Alesmith. I haven’t had yours, but if its half as good as the seasonal red ale that Alesmith has been putting out for years then you can brew. Check it out on beer advocate and you will get an idea of what I’m talking about. Send me a bottle and I won’t tell their lawyer! Anyway, do your research, be original, and have respect for your peers. Cheers,
Patrick
My bad, above comment directed to Alameda brewing not brew public. Cheers

I don’t think it’s a really big deal that both beers used the same name. Granted, there is something to be said about originality, but My Bloody Valentine is a widely used title and it could be argued by one of litigious concerns that Alesmith borrowed the name from the music band. All that being said, Alameda Brewhouse used blood oranges in this farmhouse-style ale, which in my humble opinion is pretty creative and original. Alesmith is an amazing brewery. We love their beer. Still, your point is well received, but I don’t feel Alameda was employing ignorance or disrespect when electing to name their beer MBV.
