Bushwhacker Cider signs up with Maletis Beverage

Portland’s first cidery, Bushwhacker Cider, has signed up with Maletis Beverage as its local distributor. Founded in 2010 by husband and wife team Jeff and Erin Smith, Bushwhacker, located in SE Portland’s Brooklyn neighborhood  is one of the regions most unique artisan beverage producers. Currently the nation’s only cider pub, Bushwhacker Cider, in addition to offering a variety of their own housemade ciders, they offer more than 150 bottles of cider to go or to enjoy on site.  Here’s more on this new relationship from Maletis:

When it opened in September 2010, Bushwhacker Cider became Portland’s first cidery and the only cider pub in North America. The space currently has 150+ bottles of cider available to-go or for on premise enjoyment; six cider-only taps, and a modest-sized production facility.

Bushwhacker is owned and operated by Jeff and Erin Smith, a husband and wife team that turned their hobby and passion into a successful and unique business. Located in the inner southeast neighborhood of Brooklyn, Bushwhacker greets cider geeks, newbies, and a diehard local crowd every day.  Bushwhacker is their pub of choice.

Bushwhacker currently produces three year round ciders made entirely from Northwest fruit,  rotating selections made for the season, and ciders created at the whim of the cider maker.

The three year round ciders produced and bottled in handy 12oz bottles, are a Dry, Semi-Dry, and Semi-Sweet. Bushwhacker never adds sugar to raise the alcohol, relying only on natural sugars and innovative cider fermentation techniques and blending.

Some of our more unique blends, bottled in 22oz bottles, include a Smoked Cider, a Gin Barrel Cider, and a Ginger Cider. Stocks on these are often limited and go quickly.

Experimenting with non-traditional yeast strains and oak barrels makes Bushwhacker a unique product, even when compared to other ciders.

Beginning March 19^th, Bushwhacker Cider proudly welcomes Maletis Beverage of Portland Oregon as its local distributor.  “Rob Maletis has real personal passion for the Cider category. He spent three hours here on a recent Friday afternoon with a dozen of his sales people tasting their way through the world of cider”, said Jeff Smith.

Maletis Beverage has been a strong supporter of Cider Summit Portland and continues to demonstrate a genuine commitment to the Artisanal Cider category.  Although we are effectively a Nano Cidery at this point in time, Maletis Beverage and its Cider Cicerone, John Reid, are confident they can get our current limited output to our thirsty customers in a timely fashion.
