More on Cascadian Dark Ales
Here’s a video involving some discussion between Oregon brewers about the emerging Cascadian Dark Ale beer style. This took place at a symposium hosted by Abram Goldman-Armstrong at Belmont Station.

The music in this clip is that of the Rendezvous String Band during their performance at Abram’s Robbie Burns party later that evening.
You can count on a much cleaner production of the CDA Symposium from Alison Grayson in the near future.

Great footage. Thanks for sharing!
You know, while I appreciate the effort to define a Cascadian Dark Ale, I’ve been hesitant to call Bashah one. We’re serving it at the Hop & Vine, but I’ve seen that Stone & Brewdog are referring to it as a Belgian black double IPA. I suppose it could fall into the CDA category, but since the breweries involved aren’t calling it such, what do you think? Lots of people ask about it, and I usually give ’em a taste, tell them how Stone/Brewdog are describing it, & let them decide. Has anyone asked what the brewers think of the CDA designation?
Just wondering.
Jason: I think Abram might be better to answer this one, but I think it clearly fits the category considering ingredients. The only outlier from most others would be the yeast strain which gives it a particular phenolic presence. Regardless, I find it to be a wonderfully complex and delicious brew.
