Oakshire Barrel Aging Seminar at The Upper Lip
This coming Saturday, July 27th at 1:30pm, The Upper Lip will be hosting a special tasting with Oakshire Brewing’s Matt Van Wyk. You may be wondering where The Upper Lip is located? Well its the new event space located directly above Bailey’s Taproom.
One of the better things about this event is the price. This event is not priced like other seminars that take place during some beer week. Bailey’s prices these events out in an affordable price range. Occupancy is limited and tickets must be purchased ahead of time here for $12.
The entry fee includes pours of the following beers:
Hellshire III – Foreign Style Stout aged for nearly one year in freshly emptied bourbon barrels. Notes of vanilla, chocolate, roasted coffee, oak, & bourbon intertwine with the beers’ complex malt flavors. ABV: 8.69% IBU: 35
2012 Very Ill Tempered Gnome -Winter Ale. Complex Malt profile of caramel, light fruit, and toasty nuts is backed up by a warming alcohol presence and a bold citrus hop blast. Bold but balanced. IBU: 80 ABV: 8.5%
12 Proof– Rye Whiskey Inspired Brown Ale. Made with rye malt, flaked rye, and a small percentage of flaked corn; this medium bodied brown ale is smooth and refreshing. It is balanced by a mild oakiness in the background and a hint of whiskey at the finish. 12 Proof spent 8 days on medium toasted American oak soaked in Rye Whiskey. ABV: 6.0% IBU: 25
Biere de Mars– A hazy golden ale with tropical fruit aromas and a deep earthy and bread-like aroma from the 100% Brettanomyces fermentation. The hops are prominent in the fresh version, but will fade and let the Brett flavors and aromas emerge. The body is dry and crisp with a unique fruity flavor on the finish. ABV: 6.4%
