Farm To Farmhouse – Fundraiser for Zenger Farm at The Commons Brewery

Farm To Farmhouse: Zenger FarmGiving back to the community is an important action to take and one that many of our local small businesses do without question. One of these businesses is The Commons Brewery and on Saturday, November 9th from 5 to 8pm they are hosting a fundraiser for Zenger Farm.

There will be an amazing raffle of local goods and services with 100% of the proceeds going to the cause, as well as food from Oregon Culinary Institute and Salt & Straw. These food options include beer waffles and squash caramel sauce from the Oregon Culinary Institute stout floats made with Salt & Straw ice cream. In addition, The Commons will be donating a generous portion of the night’s proceeds to Zenger Farm. Come celebrate and support one of Portland’s best non-profits!

This fundraiser is being headed up by Andrew Harmon of The BeerMongers. Harmon does a lot of work for Zenger Farm and also is one of our favorite beertenders at The BeerMongers. He keeps a busy schedule and is always a pleasure to see when stopping in at the Mongers.

Zenger Farm

Zenger is a non-profit urban farm that is located in Southeast Portland. Zenger is a working urban farm that models, promotes and educates about sustainable food systems, environmental stewardship, community development and access to good food for all.
Incorporated in 1999, Zenger Farm is a non-profit farm and wetland in outer Southeast Portland dedicated to promoting sustainable food systems, environmental stewardship and local economic development through a working urban farm. Zenger Farm utilizes the combination of a 10-acre wetland adjacent to the 6-acre organic farming operation to provide unique experiential learning opportunities for youth, farmers and families in subjects such as sustainable agriculture, wetland ecology, food security, healthy eating and local economic development.

Zenger Farm believes that proper nourishment is a basic right. Their goal is to make good, healthy food available for everyone. You can learn more about their youth education, healthy cooking classes, community supported agriculture and our farmers market that is there for all of us.

Zenger Farm At A Glance:

And to help those families in need, Zenger Farm’s Farm Share program is one of the first Community Supported Agriculture farms in Oregon to accept SNAP benefits (formerly known as Food Stamps). This allows these families a season of farm-fresh produce that they will not receive at their normal grocery store. This means “Portland produce for Portland people”.
