Bazi Bierbrasserie to Brew 4th Year Anniversary Beer in Belgium
|Portland, OR – Plans are underway for Bazi’s (1522 SE 32nd Avenue) 4th Year Anniversary to be held on Wednesday, May 27th. In preparation for that festivity, Hilda Stevens, Bazi’s proprietor will be traveling to Belgium this month to collaborate with ‘t Hofbrouwerijke on a Belgian tripel.
Hilda has collaborated on three beers with Lompoc Brewing in previous years. “Brewing in Belgium just felt natural this time around as we begin planning our 4th Year Anniversary party. Geoff is a talented and passionate brewer and ‘t Hofbrouwerijke’s unique open fire fermentation process will bring out the flavor profile in this tripel-style beer we’re creating,” stated Stevens.
While several Oregon-based brewers have traveled to Belgium in previous years to collaborate with Belgian brewers, this is the first known Portland-based restaurateur and Belgian-based brewer collaboration abroad. Stevens was also recently notified by Wetten Importers that she’s a final candidate to brew Deliria with Huyghe Brewery in 2015 – known for the world famous Delirium Tremens. “Whether or not I get chosen to brew Deliria in 2015, it’s just an honor to be considered among all the potential female restaurateurs in the U.S.,” added Stevens. Candidates will be notified in late fall of the decision, until then Stevens focus is on the 4th Year Anniversary beer.
‘t Hofbrouwerijke uses Shelton Brothers as the importer and then distributes its beer in Oregon through Point Blank Distributing. Look for the beer to make its debut at Bazi’s 4th Year Anniversary Party and available during the summer.
Excited and a little bit nervous for the celebration.
