Flock Food Hall In Downtown Portland’s Ritz-Carlton Is Now Open
|One of the most anticipated openings in the Portland food scene is now officially open. It has been years in the making and Flock Food Hall is now open in downtown Portland featuring seven restaurants and one taproom.
Located inside one of the most lavish 5-star hotels, the Ritz-Carlton, is the Flock Food Hall. Named after the famed food cart block that was once home to the Alder Street Food Carts where the luxury hotel now stands. This new concept brings together restauranteurs serving up international food options.
Flock will officially celebrate its grand opening on Sunday, February 2, 2025, but leading up to this day will see more and more of its food purveyors open up as part of Flock’s soft opening.
The lineup of restaurants includes bb.q chicken, Queen Mama’s Kitchen, Pan Roast, ZabPinto Thai, Birrieria La Plaza, HK Bistro, and Tous les Jours. Taking the lead when it comes to alcoholic beverages is Prime Taphouse, the multilocation suburban taproom that is now operating three different locations.
Flock Food Hall has been years in the making. When the massive Block 216 development broke ground that would eventually lead to the Ritz-Carlton hotel, the removal of the much beloved Alder Street Food Carts caused much grief to the locals and tourists that frequented the diverse carts. To help alleviate some of this frustration, the developers and the city made the decision to add this 8,000 square foot food hall to the block sized development.
After visiting Flock last evening, the buildout is very nice. The space is bright and painted in bold colors. There’s plenty of dining space to order from any of the restaurants and eat your food on site. It’ll be a great spot for large groups to choose their own cuisine while eating together in a more upscale atmosphere than a food cart pod.

Then when the weather cooperates, there are large full view garage doors all along the entire block of SW 9th. This will bring more airflow to create a fun atmosphere to the downtown. And if you are on the go, the restaurants at Flock are also set up for carry out options.
The micro restaurants in the food hall are all coming online in time for Sunday’s Grand Opening celebration. Tous Les Jours bakery at the corner of SW Washington and SW 9th has been open and both Pan Roast the Prime Taphouse made its debut yesterday.
During our visit to Flock, we made our homebase inside Prime Taphouse, that’s located on the north end of the food hall. Founded in 2019, Prime Taphouse made its debut in the Tanasbourne area of Hillsboro. Then a few years later it opened another location in Beaverton’s West End development. Now continuing its eastward expansion, Prime Taphouse is now open in downtown Portland.
Prime Taphouse offers up 24 taps of beer, cider, hard seltzer, hard kombucha and CBD drinks that are always available to check out via the DigitalPour app. The taproom also offers up a couple of cocktails on draft and wine. Best of all, the licensing of Flock allows you to freely move around the entire food hall with an alcoholic beverage in hand!
Of these 24 taps, 17 of them were serving craft beer during our visit and one of which is a nitro tap. The tap list was well curated and features a variety of styles from some of the best breweries around. The beers are priced from $7 to $8.50 for pints and are served in 20-ounce Willi Becher glasses with a 16-ounce fill line that was meticulously filled to. The one thing we found a bit strange was that these beers were served in well chilled, frosty glassware.
The family friendly space at Prime Taphouse includes bar seating, 21 and over of course, along with plenty of tables that will lead outside through its large full view garage doors.
Flock Food Hall will be open seven days a week from Sunday through Thursday hours will be 8:00am – 10:00pm and on Saturday hours will be 8:00am – Midnight. Individual restaurant hours will vary by location.

Attended the Opening on Sunday at 1 pm. WOW! Great food, fantastic decor, and the hall full of happy folks!’
This will be a winner in Portland!
Welcome Flock!
I wasn’t able to attend the opening, but looking at the various menus on offer makes my mouth water. My husband and I love to try new places. I see a fun spring and summer of downtown visits with food and shopping. Now if the City Fathers (and Mothers) will just provide enough parking spaces it will happen. I’m not going to walk 10 blocks and ride the bus for 45 minutes one way for anything – ever.
