Beers From the Dead 2 Resuscitates Classic Oregon Microbrews

After a successful run last year, Beers From the Dead returns for its second installment. Produced by Grand Craft Beer Productions, Beers From the Dead 2 returns for the second year bringing together old classic microbrews from Oregon for an afternoon of imbibing, all to support next month’s Bend Ale Trail Month.

This year’s Beers From the Dead 2 will take place on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from Noon – 6:00pm at On Tap Bend that’s located in Northeast Bend. Tickets are not required as all beers will be available a la carte in full or half pints. On Tap Beer Garden & Food Trucks will host a costume contest (for grown-ups, kids, and dogs) and Bend Ale Trail passports and event glassware will be free for the first 200 customers.

This festival will be an excellent way to celebrate Halloween Weekend in Central Oregon. Instead of the trendy Hazy IPAs, Cold IPAs or pasty stouts, Beers From the Dead 2 will bring back the microbrews that helped kick off the movement that began three decades ago.

The lineup, which is subject to change, includes the following Oregon breweries and beers:

Deschutes Brewery’s debut release born in 1986 Cascade Golden Ale. McMenamins Brewery at Old St. Francis resuscitates Aristocratic Imperial IPA. Boneyard Beer revives Black 13 with an imperial version at 13% ABV. Silver Moon Brewing, Central Oregon’s fourth-oldest brewery, brings Darkside Stout back from its black hole. Hop Valley Brewing brings the original Pacific Northwest macro lager, Henry Weinhard’s Private Reserve, back to life. 10 Barrel Brewing dug up Oregon Brown IPA from 2012. Cascade Lakes Brewing unburied a wee bit o’ Scotland with Angus MacDougal’s 80-Shilling Scottish AleCrux Fermentation Project, founded in 2012 by brewmaster Larry Sidor who originally brewed for Olympia, re-animates the vintage PNW pre-Prohibition lager with a clone. GoodLife Brewing not only remembers big Barleywines but unearthed a vintage keg just for the festivities. And it wouldn’t be a Halloween beerfest without one of Oregon’s OGs in the microbrew scene with Rogue Ale’s Dead Guy. From Portland, sour fruit specialists Cascade Brewing have a smashing success with Pumpkin Smash. And there will be autumnal cider as well.

Then to satisfy your hunger, there will be plenty of food options at On Tap Bend. Its current roster of food carts includes Tamales El Guero, Himalayan Bites, The Bleu Rooster, PHILLYSTYLE, and Rush’s Squares.
