Upright Brewing to Celebrate its 16th Anniversary
Sixteen years ago, Alex Ganum founded Upright Brewing in the basement of the Leftbank Building. This historic building has seen plenty of tenants though its history that began back in 1923 when it was known as the Hazelwood Building. The triangle shaped building has had a restaurant, welding supply house, jazz club in its lists of tenants, but our favorite has to be Upright Brewing!
On Saturday, April 12, 2025, Upright Brewing will host its 16th Anniversary from 1:00 – 9:00pm. If it is anything like this past year’s 15th anniversary, be prepared to mingle with plenty of beerlebrities as the taproom was hopping with plenty of brewers and others from the beer world. We may even suggest arriving a bit later in the day when the early rising crowds begin to dissipate.
For its 16th anniversary, Upright Brewing will have three new package beers available alongside five draft only releases. From the descriptions of these beers, there are plenty that we look forward to sampling! Take a look at the list below with descriptions provided by Upright Brewing.
SPECIAL PACKAGED BEER RELEASES
Billy the Mountain – Deep and complex foeder aged old ale – our very first brew from 2009! 9% ABV
Grand Cru – Bottle conditioned foeder fermented dark strong ale with secret spices 10.5% ABV
Jazz Stripes – West Coast IPA collaboration brewed at Away Days 6.7% ABV
FEATURED DRAFTS
Barrel Aged Six – Dark rye saison foeder aged over second use cherries, rye barrel finished 8% ABV
Dream Control – Double oaked blend of vintage Cascade Apricot with our 2024 Nectarine Saison 6% ABV
Barleywine – Floor malted maris otter and French grown fuggle and barbe rouge 9.5% ABV
Foeder IPA – Brewlanthropy collaboration benefitting the NE Portland Emergency Food Program 6.5% ABV
Fatali Dream Control – Cask conditioned firkin with homegrown fatalii peppers 6% ABV
In addition to the beer releases, Upright Brewing will be brining in DJ No Sleeves providing plenty of vinyl sounds for the room. Plus, food will be available from Niňos Birrieria.
