Oregon Parks Forever and 4 Oregon Craft Beverage Companies Partner for Wildfire Recovery
|This summer drinking some great Oregon made beer, cider, and wine will help restore the forests of Oregon. Four leading Oregon craft beverage producers are teaming up with Oregon Parks Forever to raise funds dedicated to replanting 25,000 trees after the devastating 2020 wildfire season.
Last summer the state of Oregon experienced a record-breaking year of fire damage after a freak windstorm resulted in wildfires throughout the state. These fires burned over a million acres of trees, more than double the devastation in recent years.
To assist in replanting these millions of acres of forest, Oregon Parks Forever has partnered with four sustainability-minded craft beverage producers. These producers include Pelican Brewing based on the Oregon Coast, Sunriver Brewing based outside of Bend, Portland Cider Company based in Portland metro area, Stoller Wine Group based in the Willamette Valley. All four producers are excited to assist Oregon Parks Forever in rebuilding Oregon’s forests to once again be green and lush.
During the months of July and August, $1 from every 6-pack cans of Sunriver Brewing and Pelican Brewing beer and Portland Cider Company cider, and 375mL cans of Stoller Canned Oregon wine sold will be donated towards Oregon Parks Forever. This revenue from Oregon retailers will go to their tree replanting campaign. Each dollar collected will cover the cost of planting one tree with its You buy one. We plant one! campaign.
“We are thrilled to have the support of these fine craft beverage producers toward this important project. Trees provide the very necessities of life,” said Seth Miller, Oregon Parks Forever executive director, in a statement. “They clear our air, protect our drinking water, create healthy communities and feed our souls. Our forests provide critical wildlife habitat, natural beauty, and recreational opportunities. They sequester carbon and help reduce soil erosion by stabilizing slopes and preventing landslides.”
Oregon Parks Forever has the goal to plant at least a million trees. You can support their efforts by donating directly, or buying the participating products from these four craft beverage producers at your local retailer during July and August.
