10 Barrel Brewing Brings Back Sinistor Black
Once known as S1NIST0R Black Ale, 10 Barrel Brewing has brought this beer back to its rotation, but is now known as Sinistor Black Ale. Yes, the brewer has tweaked the name slightly for a bit less confusion.
Sinistor Black Ale was one of the original beers in 10 Barrel’s line up back in 2008. The beer was awarded a Bronze Medal at the Great American Beer Festival but was eventually discontinued in 2018. In doing so, it made many of the beer’s fans a bit upset as they took to social media with relentless vigor, demanding that Sinistor Black return!
Well their wishes have come true, and one of 10 Barrel’s OG beers has made its triumphant return. Sinistor Black Ale has returned to the lineup, this time in cans, with a new look and the same easy drinking taste as before.
Since its inception, this black ale has been described as “the gateway to the dark side”. Sinistor Black is dark black in color but not too robust as one may expect. It almost offers a flavor of a lighter, golden ale.
German de-husked black malt is used to give Sinistor Black its obsidian hue without the thickness or bitterness of many traditional dark beers. There is still plenty of chocolate and roasted coffee notes, but just a bit more subtle than many other black ales bring to the table. At 5.7% ABV and 17 IBUs, Sinistor Black is a perfect beer for the cooler nights that early Spring brings.
Sinistor Black is now available in 6-pack, 12oz cans throughout the 10 Barrel Brewing distribution footprint. It is also available on draft in any of 10 Barrel’s Bend, Portland or Boise brew pubs. Sinistor Black Ale will also be part of the forthcoming The Classics Beer Box with other OG 10 Barrel beers. To locate Sinistor Black use the 10 Barrel Beer Finder.
