Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar is no stranger to alcohol. In 1990, Hagar opened Cabo Wabo Cantina and turned his lifelong passion for great food, music and spirits into a thriving and iconic lifestyle brand. Six years later in 1996, Hagar launched Cabo Wabo Tequila. It went on to become the #2 ultra-premium tequila brand in the United States.

Since selling off Cabo Wabo Tequila in 2010, Hagar has started a few other alcohol related ventures. This list includes Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum in 2012, a partnership with rock icon Rick Springfield, Santo Spirits in 2017, a partnership with tastemaker Guy Fieri, and now Red Rocker Brewing Co.

Now after five decades of rockin’, Hagar has launched his first beer, Red Rocker Lager. Brewed in the Rock City itself, Detroit, Michigan, Red Rocker Lager is a nod to Hagar’s Cabo roots, a Mexican-style lager.

Brewed in collaboration with Brew Detroit in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit, Red Rocker Lager is a nice, easy drinking lager. It pours a nice golden straw color with malt and a glimpse of hops on the nose. The beer is crips with a bit of body and finishes as it should, with a bit of sweetness. Red Rocker Lager clocks in at a sessionable 4.3% ABV that will allow for the beach vibes to continue all day long!

What does the future hold for Red Rocker Brewing Co.? It is more than just this Red Rocker Lager as Hagar has his sights set on a few other beers. Something we’re excited to see come to fruition.

“We will make an IPA, we will make a Belgian White,” said Sammy Hagar in an interview on CBS Detroit. “I want to make beer that I like.” He adds, “We are going to crush it!”

Red Rocker Lager is sold in 6-pack, 12 ounce and 4-pack, 16 ounce cans across liquor stores and bars throughout Michigan, California and Nevada. The beer is also available for shipping to select states including Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia, Alaska and Washington D.C. via online orders on RedRockerBrewing.com
