Here are additional details from the press release we received from St. Johns Ale Trail co-founder Trevor Thurston…
The St Johns Ale Trail was created to support the craft beer community in the St Johns and Cathedral Park neighborhoods of North Portland, and to encourage tourism in this part of town. Started by a group of community members, this event is housed within the St Johns Center for Opportunity.
The St Johns Center for Opportunity strengthens the St. Johns & Cathedral Park neighborhoods in Portland, OR through people-centered economic development and community building. We envision a thriving, diverse, and just community where everyone has access to affordable housing, benefits from economic opportunity, and is civically engaged.
We engage in activities to support our mission and vision in four key areas:
- engaging in community building activities and promoting civic engagement and volunteerism;
- strengthening our local workforce by connecting residents (including youth) to local jobs and supporting them in their job seeking efforts;
- advocating for more affordable housing in the neighborhood; and
- connecting local businesses to resources and information.
The St. Johns Ale Trail features 10 locations in the community. Interested in participating? You can grab a FREE passport at any of the participating locations. You’ll receive one stamp on your passport per location visited (with purchase of a beverage at that location). Once your passport is filled up, turn it in at any of the participating businesses and receive a commemorative St. Johns Ale Trail pint glass along with other swag. The Ale Trail goes until December 2018!
