Portland International Beerfest Returns for 11th Year
One of the most anticipated craft beer festivals in Oregon is hands down the PIB. That’s the acronym for Portland International Beerfest if you are not yet familiar. We’ve been going to this event for years and without a doubt it’s the perfect spot in Portland to seek out a number of brews from near and far that you likely haven’t yet experienced. In other words, it’s a Beer Advocate and RateBeer ticker’s dream fest. And for those who just want to quaff a sessionable brew, the PIB is known for its Pilsner Urquell “Grande Beer Garden” with $3 pints of the famous Czech Pils.
On July 20-22, 2012 , the PIB returns for the 11th year, bringing with it 160 or so beers from 15 countries. For three days livers will be shattered and reconditioned for the following week’s mother of them all, the OBF (that’s Oregon Brewers Festival if you just crawled out from under a rock). Here’s the details for the organizers:
Location: Pearl District North Park Blocks (NW Davis & NW 8th)
Hours: Fri: 4-10p, Sat 12-10p, Sun 12-7p
Admission: $30 gate/$25 advance – Includes 10 beer tickets & glass. Extra tickets $1 each
FREE RE-ENTRY ALL 3 DAYS (must have official glass & wristband)
Deals: Discounts available online advance purchase. VIP packages are THE best deal.
The Portland International Beerfest turns it up to 11 in it’s 11th year this July 20-22nd.
PIB is a sophisticated, slightly extreme festival specializing in hard-to-find, rare, & exotic styles of beer from breweries near & far. Situated amidst the grass & trees of the Pearl District North Park Blocks in downtown Portland, it feels similar to the great beer gardens of Germany & Belgium. Stroll around the grounds with a gourmet cold one as you listen to great music all weekend. There’s rib-stickin’ eats from KOi Fusion, Potato Champion, East Burn, and others, along with a plenty of free games such as darts, chess, and backgammon. 21 & over only, pet-friendly. Come find out why our motto is: “Taste the greatest beers you’ve never heard of!”
PIB has the most eclectic beer list of any festival in the Pacific Northwest that range from smoked beers from Iceland, Trappist ales and sour Lambics from Belgium, Cognac barrel-aged beers from Denmark, Scotch barrel-aged beers from the Netherlands, Lagers and Hefe’s from Germany and even locally made cascading classics like Imperial IPA’s.
