Green Dragon's Hanukkah Hoedown Throwdown

December 21, 2011 marks the kickoff of the Jewish holiday known as Hanukka. For eight days and eight nights, this festival of lights will commemorate the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem.
Before Lighting the Menorah, the folks at the Green Dragon Bistro Pub are kicking off a special celebration of both Hanukka and Christmas with their Hanukkah Hoedown Throwdown, a side-by-side sampling of beers from both Shmaltz Brewing and local favorite Lompoc Brewing. This event will happen on Saturday December 17, 2011 beginning at 5PM.

In case you missed it Lompoc’s Sidebar celebrated a similar event on Wednesday December 14, then you are not going to want to miss out on this. And, even if you did attend that event, Saturday’s tasting promises even more malty goodness.  Here’s the details from the folks at the Green Dragon:

Celebrate both Christmas and Hanukah this year at the Green Dragon. We’ll be having a Hanukah Hoedown Throwdown with Shmaltz Brewing pitting 5 of their rare Hanukah beers against 5 rare Christmas beers by Lompoc Brewing.

Join us at 5:00 PM on Saturday, December 17th to meet the Lompoc brewers Bryan Keilty, Dave Fleming, Irena Bierzynski and Zach Beckwith as well as Shmaltz’s Zak Davis as they talk about their unique brews. Try a pint or have one of our preset flights. Vote for your favorite and we’ll select a winner to present the Hanukah vs. Christmas trophy. Afterwards we’ll raffle off great prizes! To get even more into the competitive spirit, there will also be an Extreme Dreidel Tournament that runs throughout the day. Bring your best game and celebrate the holidays with us.
