Laurelwood Brewing Celebrates 13 Years and Enters the Philadelphia Market
|As Laurelwood Brewing is about to celebrate thirteen years in business later this week, they announce their entrance into the Philadelphia craft beer scene. Beginning later this month, Laurelwood will begin to distribute their beers in the Philadelphia market with Penn Distributors. Laurelwood will join Oregon based Full Sail Brewing, Widmer Brothers, and Rogue to all be distributed by Penn Distributors.
Residents of Philly will now be able to find Laurelwood’s core brands like Workhorse IPA, Mother Lode Golden Ale and Free Range Red in the greater Philly market wherever fine craft beers are sold. Micah Bell, Laurelwood’s Director of Marketing and Sales said, “Philadelphia is a wonderful beer market for our brand. We have a strong relationship with Penn Distributing, and the beer scene in Philly is extremely strong. This also gives us a chance to see how our product performs on the East coast.”
What started during Philly Beer Week in 2011 as a collaborative effort between Laurelwood , Penn Distributors, and the owners of Memphis Taproom has turned into something great for the entire Philadelphia beer scene in 2014. Kickoff events will be held at Memphis Taproom and Local 44 on March 25 and at Resurrection Ale House and Strangelove’s on March 26. “We couldn’t be happier to see Laurelwood back in Philly! Our guests go bonkers for it when we pour it.” says Memphis Taproom owner Brendan Hartranft. Nick Funchion, Business Development Manager at Penn Distributors, says, “We are thrilled to be adding Laurelwood’s excellent lineup of craft beer brands to our portfolio. This top notch brewery will be a great addition to the market for Philadelphia beer enthusiasts.”
Just prior to the huge endeavor of Laurelwood distributing their beer in Philadelphia, the brewpub will be celebrating 13 years in business on Friday, March 21st. All day and all night, Laurelwood will be offering their loyal patrons $3.00 pints at both their NE Portland and Sellwood locations. Then later in the day owner Mike DeKalb will be tapping a Firkin of their new seasonal, Piston Pale Ale. The festivities will include cake, raffles all night and the balloon guy, Joe Mishkin that will entertain the children.
But these are not the only events that Laurelwood will be taking part in over the next few weeks. On March 20th and 21st, Laurelwood will be invading Buffalo Wild Wings at the Lloyd Center. During this marketing blitz Laurelwood will be sampling Free Range Red and will also be raffling off some door prizes.
Then on the last Sunday of March, the Rip City Ale Fest will take place. Held at the Memorial Coliseum, this event will showcase local beers in an inviting setting before tip off. The Rip City Ale Fest will take place from 3:30 to 6:00pm on Sunday, March 30th. The Blazers will then take the court to face the Grizzlies directly after the Rip City Ale Fest ends at 6:00pm.
