Pike Brewing to Move Brewing Operations to SoDo Neighborhood
The final brew day at Pike Brewing took place today, October 18, 2023, just south of Pike Place Market. No, the brewery is not closing and the Pike Pub and Pike Fish Bar are both staying put in its touristy location at 1415 First Avenue in Seattle, Washington. However, Pike Brewing will soon be brewing its beers in a new state-of-the-art facility located in Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood. The goal is to have this new brewery up and operational in January 2024.
Pike Brewing was founded by craft beer pioneers Charles and Rose Ann Finkel over 30 years ago in 1989. Since its inception, Pike Brewing has been a mainstay in Seattle’s legendary craft beer scene as it has employed so many great brewers, including its current head brewer, Leslie Shore. The new brewery will be a modern one as it will depart its longtime gravity fed brewery.
Moving and expanding this brewery in today’s unstable craft beer market is a risky one. This holds true even more so when it comes to a legacy brewery such as Pike Brewing that has pulled back its market reach over the past few years to focus on its home turf of Seattle. Over the past year or so the brewery has completed a brand refresh and has opened its first satellite location, Pike Taproom in Seattle’s trendy Ballard neighborhood.
According to today’s press release, Pike Brewing has embraced the opportunity to invest in a new space that will allow for expanded creativity, innovation, and production capacity. It will now take on the capital to achieve this goal.
“The decision to move our brewing operations to a new facility was not made lightly,” said Charles Finkel, Founder of Pike Brewing. “We have cherished the memories, the community, and the history that has been made at our current location. However, we are excited about the endless possibilities that our new facility will offer as we continue to produce exceptional craft beer.”
The new brewing facility, slated for a January 2024 opening, will be equipped with cutting-edge technology to ensure that Pike Brewing can maintain their commitment to crafting high-quality, innovative beers that continue to meet and exceed the expectations of their dedicated customer base.
Pike Pale Ale, the iconic brew that has been a staple of the Pike Brewing portfolio for years, will be the final beer to be brewed at the current brewery location on First Avenue. Pike Brewing wishes to express their deepest gratitude to their customers, supporters, and the Seattle community for their unwavering support throughout this journey. The move to the new facility will mark the beginning of an exciting chapter for Pike Brewing, one that promises to bring new innovations and an even greater commitment to the craft.
