2013 Corvallis Beer Week
|Willamette Valley’s college town of Corvallis, Oregon kicks off their 3rd Annual Corvallis Beer Week later today, Monday, September 9th and continuing through Sunday, September 15th. Corvallis’ Craft Beer scene continues to thrive and today is the day that Corvallis Beer Week 2013 kicks off to promote the education and celebration of Craft Beer throughout their beautiful city. Yes a true 7 days packed with many varied beer related events and activities.
The idea for Corvallis Beer Week is the brainchild of Co-Founder Drew Salmi. He saw other communities throughout Oregon including, Portland, Eugene and Medford rally behind the idea of a week long celebration of the local and regional Craft Beer industry. After bringing Chris Althouse, Bar Manager at Block 15 and Co-Founder of Oakshire Brewing, and Nathan Langner, Instructor & Faculty Member at Oregon State University, the Corvallis Beer Week team was complete and we had an amazing first two years!
Heading into our 3rd year, Corvallis Beer Week 2013 has 44 fantastic events in 7 days brought to by our generous sponsors. Types of events include beer education talks, beer dinners, brewery tours, open houses, limited bottle releases, bike rides, a kickoff march, a block party, beerfests and even a doubles cribbage tournament. Many of the weeks events are even family friendly! One of the highlights of Corvallis Beer Week is their annual Septembeerfest held at the Benton County Fair Grounds on Saturday, September 14th from 2:00pm to 10:00pm. This is a benefit for the Linn Benton Food, Oregon State University Foundation supporting scholarships in Fermentation Science and the Glen Hay Falconer Foundation. Located at the Benton County Fairgrounds in an outdoor setting, with plenty of room for enjoying a beer and listening to some fine entertainment. Septembeerfest is a family friendly event, all ages welcome (minors admitted free with paid adult). Admission is $15 and includes a pint glass and four drink tokens, additional drink tokens are $1. While cash is preferred, credit/debit cards will be accepted.
