Occidental Brewing Co. Releases 2019 Oktoberfest Festbier
Portland’s Occidental Brewing will release its annual Oktoberfest Festbier in 16oz cans for the first time. Paying homage to Bavaria and its legendary Oktoberfest, Occidental Brewing offers its interpretation of a Festbier.
Festbier is described as a rich yet drinkable lager in the old tradition of Oktoberfest beers before light colors and flavors began to dominate the German landscape. German noble hops provide a delicate hop character to pair with a firm malt profile featuring Munich and Vienna malts. Festbier is the perfect beer to drink as we start to see long summer days slowly turn into autumn.
Suggested pairings for Festbier include pretzel necklaces, leaves beginning to change color, lederhosen, and homemade sauerkraut.
Also, mark your calendars for the 2019 Occidental Brewing Oktoberfest as it returns to the brewery in mid-September. This year’s Oktoberfest celebration will take place on Friday, September 20th and Saturday, September 21st. It is a two day, all ages event with live music, food from Urban German, lots of beer, and more!
Festbier will be on tap at Occidental’s Portland taproom as well as bars, bottle shops and grocery stores. Look for it over the next few months.
