Special Lineup On Tap This Weekend at Sidebar
|New Old Lompoc’s Sidebar (at the Fifth Quadrant brewpub) just announced some delicious and rare beers pouring on tap this weekend.
Bob’s Memorial Braggot – Brewed in the summer of ’08 and blended and bottled in March ’09, this beer is 2.25 parts mead to 1 part brown ale. The late Bob Farrell, one of the true gentlemen of the Oregon craft-beer world, was a great fan of braggot, and helped blend this before his untimely death from cancer. We raise our glass to Bob when we drink this! 7% ABV
2009 Dagda Pan-Gaelic Red – Brewed in February ’08, this beer features a huge malty nose with a caramel finish. It has a full sweet palate with very little hops. 7.5% ABV
2008 Pagan Porter – Brewed in August ’08, Lompoc’s porter is black in color with a soft roastiness in the nose and a rich chocolate flavor. 6.4% ABV
Barrel Fermented IPA – The brewers at Lompoc took their Centennial IPA and fermented it in a white English oak barrel. Crystal malts give it a rich golden color, and Centennial hops provide a floral nose and sharp bitter finish. 7.6% ABV
LSD (Lompoc Strong Draft) – A Portland Classic! This strong ale has a deep mahogany color and is crafted with seven different specialty malts. A touch of smoked malt gives it a complex aroma and incredible flavor. LSD is also generously hopped with six hop varieties to help create an awesome beer. 6.9% ABV
Fool’s Golden Ale – Crystal hops and malted wheat balance this great session beer. 5% ABV
Sidebar is open Friday from 4-10 pm and Saturday from 2-10 pm. Our tasting room featuring barrel aged and seasonal specialty beers is located at 3901 N Williams, just past Pix Patisserie.
Not only are their beers great, but you can bump into Portland beer glitterati like Jeff Alworth (http://beervana.blogspot.com/), whom I rubbed brief shoulders with on my way out on Saturday night. Also, it’s often bartended by the brewers, who, for obvious reasons, are very knowledgeable about the beers they are pouring…
