Gigantic Brewing's 2nd Anniversary

On Friday, Gigantic Brewing will be celebrating their 2nd Anniversary at their Tap Room & Champagne Lounge from 3:00 to 9:00pm. To assist in this celebration, Gigantic will have a few special beers pouring, including their recent World Beer Cup Gold Medal winner, to ring in two years.

This year’s anniversary celebration will be quite a bit lower key than last year’s Gigantic Beer Week. To celebrate one year in business the fellas from Gigantic decided to poke fun at the various beer weeks being celebrated and went with their very own beer week. This was quite a week of some serious imbibing. They released their first barleywine, aptly named Massive and held events over a 8 day period throughout Portland.

Gigantic even took the backseat at one of their beer week events, Gigantic & Friends! held at Apex a year ago. This was quite possibly the premiere beer event of the year. Gigantic’s Van Havig and Ben Love used their solid connections in the beer industry to bring in very rare beers from their close friends from the Chicago area at Three Floyds, Haymarket Pub & Brewery, Solemn Oath, and Piece.

Then within a month of their one year anniversary taking place Gigantic Brewing won their first medal at an international beer competition. Gigantic was awarded the Platinum Medal for their The End of Reason, Petite Belgian-style Quad, at the Greg Noonan MBier Contest during the 2013 Mondial de la Bière Festival in Montreal on May 30, 2013.

Gigantic’s second international medal also happened within their 2nd year in business. Last month Gigantic won the Gold Medal for Pipewrench in the Wood and Barrel Aged Beer category during the 2014 World Beer Cup that was held in Denver, CO. Pipewrench features their flagship Gigantic IPA aged in Ransom Spirits Old Tom Gin barrels from Sheridan, OR.

This was quite the year for the fellas at Gigantic. So now to celebrate Gigantic Brewing’s 2nd Anniversary, Havig and Love will be hosting a party on Friday from 3:00 to 9:00pm at their Tap Room.

For the celebration, Gigantic will be tapping their very rare World Beer Cup Gold Medal winning Pipewrench: Ransom Old Tom Gin Barrel Aged IPA. They’ll also be tapping a special cask firkin along with another special beer.

And if that is not enough, there will be Brewer DJs taking their turn on the turntables. Yes, it’ll be Bling INTL, DJ Love and Herr Monsieur Guckel laying down the soundtrack for the evening. Sounds like a lot of fun and some great beer will be had on Friday in Southeast Portland.
