Brewpublic was recently informed that the long awaited Apex Bar on SE Divison at 12th in Portland would soon be featuring its grand opening on May 7, 2010. To the delight of area beer lovers, the establishment, founded by beer expert Jesse McCann, got the permits necessary to serve the public. On Thursday April 22, 2010, Apex quietly opened. Great weather and a healthy crowd of beer geeks had the opportunity to choose from 30 taps. Coming soon, the bar will pour upwards of 50 draught beers.

The cozy environment of Apex offers a northside outdoor patio, a large bicycle parking lot, and friendly, well-known area servers like the Horse Brass’ Chris “King C” Ensign, Hopworks Jaime Rodriguez, beer scribe Abram Goldman-Armstrong, and the beloved McCann himself.
Apex will not offer food options, but welcomes outside grub. The adjacent Los Gorditos Mexican restaurant offers affordable options, as well as a full vegan menu. Apex reminds us that they are a cash-only pub, so make sure to keep that in mind, or make use of their on-premise ATM. The bar will be open 11:30 am until 2:30 am seven days a week. Currently you can enjoy craft beers such as Elysian Prometheus IPA, Hopworks Galactic Imperial Red, Lagunita’s New Dog Town Pale, DuPont Avec le Bon Vieux, and Urthel Hop-It! Look for even more mouthwatering specialties to follow.
Apex is located at 1216 Southeast Division Street in Portland, Oregon.
