FRIDAY NOVEMBER 23, 2012
Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, traditionally the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. On this day, many retailers open very early, and offer promotional sales to kick off the shopping season, similar to Boxing Day sales in many Commonwealth countries. Black Friday is not actually a holiday, but many employers give their employees the day off, increasing the number of potential shoppers. It has routinely been the busiest shopping day of the year since 2005,although news reports, which at that time were inaccurate, have described it as the busiest shopping day of the year for a much longer period of time.
For those more interested in hoppy dark ales, the Green Dragon (928 SE 9th Avenue, Portland, OR) and BREWPUBLIC are putting together a fun event to give new meaning to Black Friday. On Friday November 23, 2012, several piny, resinous, floral dark beers know widely as Black IPAs, and in our neck of the woods as Cascadian Dark Ales, will be pouring. So forget the insanity of the stressful shopping malls and join us for this fun all-day event!
