N.W.I.P.A. Upcoming October Events
Fall is in the air as the rain returns to our beautiful Portland area. But before we all go hibernate at our favorite watering hole for the winter, the fellas at N.W.I.P.A. have one rockin’ month of events to welcome in the final half of October. The month of Rocktober will include bottle release parties, a Pinewood Derby challenge, a Halloween celebration and our most anticipated event at N.W.I.P.A., Killer IPA Fest. Here’s a rundown on the details.
Epic Brewing’s Big Bad Baptist Release Party
Thursday, October 15 – 6:00pm to 9:00pm
Epic Brewing’s Big Bad Baptist release party will feature three vintages of Baptist on tap. Big Bad Baptist is an Imperial Stout brewed with Cocoa Nibs and Coffee Beans and is then aged in whiskey barrels. This release party will include vintages from 2013, 2014 (#34), and 2015 (#53). There will also be some special bottle pours of different batch numbers from the cellar. Flights will be available as well as bottles for sale.
Killer IPA Fest Presented By Brewpublic
Sunday, October 18 – Noon to 8:00pm
Returning for another round will be Killer IPA Fest presented by us here at Brewpublic for our annual Killer Beer Week. This Sunday will be like no other when the hoppiest of all hop forward beers will be pouring through the taps at N.W.I.P.A. Since this is Killer IPA Fest the jockey boxes will be brought out to pour even more Killer IPAs.
To get your hop tastebuds salivating here is a partial list of what will be on tap.
- Fat Head’s Hop Juju IIPA (’13 and ’15 GABF Gold Medal)
- Block 15’s Bad Fish IPA
- Breakside’s Azacca IIPA (Vermont Style)
- Melvin’s 2 x 4 IIPA (2 time winner and current Alpha King runner up)
- Fort George’s Fresh Hop Suicide Squeeze Session IPA
- 10 Barrel Boise’s Double Mosaic IIPA
- Barley Brown’s Turmoil CDA
- Goodlife’s Comatose IIPA
- Trinity’s 45th Parallel IPA
Commemorative glasses and five drink tickets for $10.00. Each additional ticket will only be $1.00.
Arrive hungry as Killer IPA Fest will feature food from Willamette Week’s Food Cart of the Year, Holy Mole! Fernando will be serving his Pozole ($5) and Mole ($6) from Noon to sixish.
Lagunitas’ Pinewood Derby
Saturday, October 24 – 3:00pm to 7:00pm
N.W.I.P.A. hosts its inaugural Lagunitas Pinewood Derby as they go head to head against other Portland beer bars including Saraveza, Bridgetown Beerhouse and The BeerMongers! Pinewood Derby Car Kits can be picked up at any of these five locations for just a $10 donation, proceeds go to The American Cancer Society. Build your car for looks and/or speed! Weigh ins and Best in Show voting starts at 3:00 PM. Races begin at 4:20 PM.
10 Barrel Brewing; Rise of the Big Daddy Burger
Monday, October 26 – 5:00pm to 8:00pm
10 Barrel Brewing will be bringing brewers from all three of its locations; Bend, Boise and Portland. This lineup includes Shawn “Big Daddy” Kelso, Tonya Cornett and Whitney Burnside. N.W.I.P.A. will have IPAs from all three 10 Barrel locations including Joe IPA, Pearl IPA and Apocalypse and quite possibly another treat or two. This event will also bring back Burger Mondays to N.W.I.P.A. There will be a presale of burgers to ensure a smoother service for everyone, please check the N.W.I.P.A. Facebook page for updates.
N.W.I.P.A. Halloween and Dan’s Birthday Bash!
Saturday, October 31 – 6:00pm to Midnight
Halloween and Dan’s Birthday featuring food from Chicken and Guns!
It is that time of year again when N.W.I.P.A.’s Halloween baby has a party! Draft list and bands being currently worked on. Chicken and Guns will be on hand roasting a pig as well as serving up its regular fare. Bands will start at 9:00pm.
