Portland Fresh Hops Festival Celebrates 18 Years

The 2022 Portland Fresh Hops Festival returns this fall to Oaks Amusement Park to celebrate its 18th anniversary on September 30th and October 1st. This annual event hosted by the Oregon Brewers Guild brings together many of the guild’s member breweries serving up at least one of their fresh hop beers from this season’s hop harvest.

“We just love fresh hop season and are very excited to be bringing our annual event back to Oaks Amusement Park this year,” stated Christina LaRue, Executive Director of the Oregon Brewers Guild, in a statement.

With hop harvest just getting underway, these fresh hop or wet hop beer are only available for a limited time as each beer is brewed within hours of the hops being picked from the bine. These beers offer their own distinctive aromas and flavors that are only found in these beers brewed with freshly harvested hops.

“Oregon brewers are very lucky in that they have access to fresh hops from world renowned hop farmers right here in our backyard,” shared LaRue. “Over the past eighteen years, the Portland Fresh Hops Festival has strived to help highlight and celebrate these once-a-year beers from Oregon brewers across the state.”

Coinciding with the Fresh Hos Festival, the Oregon Brewers Guild will also be releasing the next fresh hop iteration of their State of Excitement Collaboration Series. This fresh hop beer will debut at the festival as well as available in package for purchase to take home. Proceeds from the beer will be used to support the guild’s Mashing Barriers internship program.

The 2022 Portland Fresh Hops Festival will take place on Friday, September 30th from 4pm-8pm and October 1st from 12pm-8pm. An “Early Bird” ticket special will be running online August 29th through September 3rd.
