Weekend In Beer – Beginning October 19, 2023

This weekend is full of two anniversaries in North Portland. Both Ecliptic Brewing and Saraveza hit some nice milestones with celebrations taking place on Saturday. Another highlight to the weekend is at Loyal Legion as it hosts the Oregon Agricultural Trust’s Cheers to the Land project with all 17 beers on tap. It takes place in Beaverton today and in Portland on Friday.

Deschutes Pints & Pizza Party
Thursday, October 19 – 4:30-9:00pm
Join Deschutes Brewery & Public House to fire up a party with pints and pizza. The family and employee-owned brewery is giving away free pizza to celebrate the naming of Fresh Squeezed IPA as The Official Beer of Pizza! It just so happens to be National Pizza Month, commemorated every October by an act of Congress in 1987, so why not celebrate a national holiday?

So swing on by the Deschutes Brewery & Public House in Bend on Thursday evening for a free slice of pizza to guests who order a pint of Fresh Squeezed IPA (while supplies last). And since it’s Thursday. you can catch NFL’s Thursday night game featuring the Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New Orleans Saints on the pub’s TVs.

Cheers To The Land at Loyal Legion

For the second consecutive year, Oregon Agricultural Trust (OAT) has brought together breweries to brew a beer for its Cheers to the Land project. It was created to bring awareness to the importance of protecting farm and ranch land. OAT is a statewide nonprofit land trust that partners with farmers and ranchers to permanently protect agricultural land for the benefit of Oregon’s economy, community, and landscapes.

Both Loyal Legion locations will feature all 17 beers from each of the participating breweries and $1 of every beer goes toward supporting Cheers to the Land. On top of this, Loyal Legion Beer Hall will be matching the donation!

Singlecut Beersmith Showcase
Thursday, October 19 – 6:00-8:00pm
New to Oregon, Singlecut Beersmith brings its popular beers from New York for a showcase at Loyal Legion in Portland. On tap will be six Singlecut Beersmith beers. Plus, Rich Buceta, the founder of the brewery will be in house performing a special DJ set!

Ecliptic Brewing’s 10th Orbit
Saturday, October 21 – Noon-10:00pm
After spending many of his career brewing for others, ten years ago John Harris opened the doors to his very own brewery, Ecliptic Brewing. Since then this brewery has grown and has become an award-winning brewery that now has two locations.

On Saturday, Ecliptic Brewing will host its 10 Year Anniversary Party at its Mothership location. They will be open all day with plenty of reasons to celebrate!

Cracking the Vault
Saturday, October 21 – Noon-4:00pm
Rare beers will be coming out of the vault at Crux Fermentation Project. This means that select vintages of the brewery’s legendary Banished Series will be made available to customers for one day only. Just swing by one of Crux’s pubs in Bend or Portland to sample these beers that’ll be served alongside some mouth watering bites!

Plus, for every $50 dollars spent on these barrel-aged beauties, Crux will include a complimentary snifter glass

Saraveza 15th Anniversary
Saturday, October 21 – Noon-10:00pm
Fifteen years strong, Saraveza is still satisfying craft beer fans and former Wisconsin residents at its inviting bar in North Portland. To celebrate this wonderful milestone, Saraveza will host its 15th Anniversary on Saturday with some special beers brewed for this special day!

The team at Saraveza convinced Breakside Brewery to brew its longtime house beer, Wisco Cream Ale, once again. It’ll be packaged in cans and will be served on draft. There will also be beers brewed in collaboration with Great Notion Brewing, Upright Brewing, Irrelevant Beer and Living Haus Beer Co. Sounds like it’ll be a great tap list come Saturday!

Double Dews & Brews Fundraiser Benefitting The Great Pyrs & Paws Dog Rescue.
Saturday, October 21 – 3:00-7:00pm
A fundraiser benefiting the Great Pyrs and Paws Rescue takes place in Beaverton on Saturday. The event, Double Dews & Brews bring together craft beer and our favorite four legged friends. There will be hourly raffle prizes donated by local businesses that cater to dogs, silent auction items, a special keg on tap with all the proceeds benefitting the rescue, and a dog Halloween costume contest at 5:00pm with prizes for the top 3 dogs. There will also have a pop-up on site selling dog related items.
