After operating for the past 16 years in White Salmon, Washington, Everybody’s Brewing will open a second location in Washington in the Vancouver suburb of Battle Ground. Everybody’s Brewing will assume ownership of the Northwood Public House and Brewery that was once the Washington State location of Laurelwood Brewing.

Eric and Paula Star, owners of Northwood Public House, will now be retiring after a long career in the restaurant and the craft beer industries. The two are happy to have the business and its staff now be part of Christine and Doug Ellenberger, owners of Everybody’s Brewing!

The transaction of Northwood Public House and Brewery to Everybody’s at Northwood is expected to close on November 1, 2024.

White Salmon, Wash. – Everybody’s Brewing is excited to announce that they are expanding with a second location in Southwest Washington. They will be assuming ownership of the Northwood Public House and Brewery in Battle Ground.

Founded in White Salmon in 2008 by Christine and Doug Ellenberger, Everybody’s Brewing began with a belief in the power of a shared human experience – be it with a laugh and a pint at the pub, or a six-pack split between friends. Everybody’s has grown from a small-town pub to a leader in the Columbia River Gorge restaurant and brewing industries. Now celebrating 16 years, Everybody’s is a year-round destination for Gorge residents and tourists alike and is firmly established as an indispensable part of the Pacific Northwest community.

Everybody’s intends to bring this same sense of connection to Battle Ground while honoring the existing community established by Northwood Public House. “We love the Northwood scene and we are committed to maintaining its charm and special place in the Battle Ground community”, said Christine. “We so admire what Eric and Paula have created at Northwood, and we are super excited about the future. We look forward to working with the amazing team at Northwood and sharing a pint with the loyal patrons”, Doug added.

For 10 years, Northwood owners Eric and Paula Starr have operated with a family-oriented and worker-focused mindset. These shared values make the transition feel natural. “Northwood has always been a labor of love, so it was our highest priority to hand things off to someone who shares our values and passion”, said Eric. “We could not be happier that the handoff is to Everybody’s – they are the perfect folks to take Northwood forward”.

Everybody’s provides a community that fosters positive experiences by offering top-quality beer and food in a welcoming environment, produced and served by passionate, creative people. This honest and transparent approach has been tremendously successful, evidenced by awards received from the Washington Craft Beer Association, SIP Magazine and Best of the Gorge. Everybody’s embodies just what the name suggests; a place for everybody and beer for all.

The transition to “Everybody’s at Northwood” is scheduled for Friday, November 1, 2024.

Back in 2014 when the location was part of the Laurelwood Brewing empire. The location will soon be home to Everybody’s Brewing.

Here are additional details from Northwood Public House’s social media message…

We are thrilled to announce that our baby, Northwood Public House and Brewery, is finally moving out and allowing us (Eric and Paula) to be empty nesters again after the hard work of bringing a successful community hub into reality. We’re retiring after a long career in the restaurant and the craft beer industries. This wasn’t an easy decision and we spent long hours discussing our hopes for a hand-off ot suitable, younger parents, people who shared our commitments to our staff family and the Battle Ground community. We wanted like-minded, family oriented, worker centric operators with experience who could give Northwood new opportunities and expanded horizons.

We feel incredibly lucky to have found and heartily connected with Doug and Christine Ellenberger, owners and operators of Everybody’s Brewing Company, a fixture in the PNW craft brewing community since 2008. Their highly regarded flagship in White Salmon WA is evidence of their success as restauranteur/publicans, and as brewers. It’s as much a gathering spot for that community as Northwood has been for Battle Ground, and their plan is to continue the good vibes as “Everybody’s at Northwood”. The transition is scheduled for November 1, 2024.

We have cared so deeply about Northwood, these past 10 years. It has been the fruition of our dreams for community around the shared values of great food, great beer and great times, al under the soaring ceilings of a legitimate beer hall. We love this community and the friends we’ve made here. Along with our awesome staff, we’ve tried to share our brand of warm, engaging hospitality with our entire Northwood Family, and we mean it.

Doug and Christine operate Everybody’s Brewing and Pub with these same values. They’re excited to shepherd their new baby with a humble appreciation for the elements that make a great experience; their valued staff, the comfort of their guests and the friendships they look forward to cultivating. “We so admire what Eric and Paula have created at Northwood and we’re super excited about the future” says Doug. “We love the Northwood scene and are committed to maintaining its charm and special place in the community” adds Christine.

As the new ownership takes the reigns, employees and loyal patrons wilt be reassured to know that all staff members will remain in their current positions with the same salaries and enhanced benefits. “Northwood has always been a labor of love for us and so it was absolutely our highest priority to hand things of to someone who shared our values and passion”, said Eric, “we could not be happier that the handoff is to Everybody’s, they are the perfect folks to take Northwood forward”.

We look forward to seeing you in the Pub and at local events. We are retiring here and are pleased to do so. We loved running the pub and although we tried to make ti look easy, ti is a lot of hard work and we’re ready to let the next generation step in. We know you’ll love them and hope you’ll come on in and show Everybody’s your loyal support.

Thank you, Vacher Group, LLC, for managing this transaction, we appreciate you.

Sincerely,

Eric and Paula Star
